I always loved the simple beauty of a last stand weapon that might just have a greater effective range than a delivery range depending on conditions & if you can get back over a hill.
I doubt anything like that would be made again as it's a bit too manly... the whole if you suddenly realize that you are not going to make it, you might as well go out Samson style & make it a good day to die, taking out as many commie bastards as you can while buying time for your buddies.
