That works out to 0.0303 tons of tnt- or 60 lbs. Less than a ton, but I feel like even 60 lbs of tnt is quite a bit. Imagine buying gasoline in tnt equivalents. Drive away from the gas station with 1200 lbs of tnt (equivalent) in your gas tank…

seems there are 2 kinds of EV driver: the first used to drive Volvos because they were safe. The other is the 'look at me!' types wanting a fast car. The former seems to drive Priuses. The latter Teslas.

I don’t drive an EV, nor do I think that they are any better for the environment than a gas or diesel rig. I do appreciate that they (can) haul ass. They can also catch on fire and be pieces of shit.
I'm old enough to know I don't need to be in the left lane unless I mean it. ...then get right back right like you're supposed to. I *can* be in a hurry, but I choose not to be.

Totally forgetting that the same state rakes in on average double the amount of sales tax on the purchase of that EV over a standard vehicle.
Once they have got everybody all on board with that, you will see a nice sudden switch that will hit you in the face when they now pivot to "being fair to everyone" and suddenly institute a mileage tax on how much you drive (oh and the price of gasoline or electricity or the fees won't go any lower).

You'll note that Volvo has backed down from their stance of 'no fatal accidents in our cars ever!' stance. Even they acknowledge that 'people are stupid.'
...and no. I'm not advocating for a road use tax on anything. EVs or not. I think it's coming because the government(s) see another source of cash as they try to phase out petroleum usage. Like was pointed out above, they're also going to try to make it so effing expensive to drive period that people will 'voluntarily' move to those '15min cities.' Listen to me now, hear me later.

EV drivers are indeed morons and despite what they *think* they're doing they aren't. I can understand the jackholes driving Teslas for the performance. I like stomping the skinny pedal too. Too bad they drive like jackholes.
Y'all are also assuming that I'm 'out to save the planet' by riding my bicycles. I'm not. I'm out exercising. Just so happens I enjoy riding more than I enjoy running.

If you go look up the news stories, NY was having a pretty big problem with cheap Chinese electric bicycles and scooters catching fire and burning things down.

Well, for the most part, where I live and drive, there are not cyclists. However, if I had a job in my small town, it might be advantageous to ride a bicycle.
Riding is good exercise, of course.
