This is too much fun

JBM ballistics worked well enough with CenterX and my kidd rifle that I was able to plug in the MV from the box and go and win 3 consecutive matches at Texas Precision Matches. This was a couple of years ago at this point, but I have been nothing but pleased with this free online ballistics software. To that point, a buddy at the match asked for my dope- he shoots a vudu- and he went and won that event. Neither of us so much as shot over a chrono. As far as I know, he is still using that dope for his 22lr matches. If you are having issues with JBM ballistics, it is probably you...

JBM has been nuts on for me. But you have to understand which inputs matter and which ones you can leave as a default.

I have since been hitting the 300 yd. kestrel got me close and then I fine tuned. Also since then, I took an online advanced kestrel class using Teams. Kestrel does free classes. And they do a great job in explaining set ups, calibrations and other things the kestrel can do. I still need to go and fine tune even more, after taking the class.

You need good Chrono numbers and true the speed and bc to what your real world dope is

Yeah I would recommend Sterlok. Get chronologically numbers.
just curious how important is getting "good chronograph numbers" when in the end you tweak those numbers? I quit using the chrono other than keeping track of ES and SD. In theory you could just put some SWAG number in my Strelok to start and get real dope for the true function, right?

That could probably work. Oh and I love auto correct changing chrono for me. So I went out. Got my speed. Got my really data. Plugged all that into Sterlok. Trued my BC. Now when I go out to a match I chrono while zeroing. Punch in that and the weather and I get reliable data to go out and get hits on target out to so far 325 while on the clock.

Just gets you there way quicker. If your chrono is accurate, you are good to go right away.

Yeah I would recommend Sterlok. Get chronologically numbers. Go to the 300y range at Richwood and get your dope at 100, 200 and 300 then true Strelok. Lapua's published BC of .172 is not good. Luke at the Lapua test center said he starts at .123 and tweaks from there. Once I tried that I was pretty dialed in then did the tweaking.
Nice to hear this about BC. I shoot Sk + and SK RM and both stated BC are .172. I call BS on this BC as well. I’m running a BC of .135. Dead on out to 300 with MV checked and entered into the kestrel.
