This is What My Representative Said:

I erased “false dichotomy” not because what you said wasn’t a false dichotomy but because I also had a false dichotomy earlier where the two options presented were either the non-democratic checks have completely failed or they are fully working when in reality it’s a spectrum. So, I’m calling myself out for that but my position is still that we are more towards the failing than working side of the spectrum for non democratic self limiting checks.
You read my post incorrectly. I wasn't saying that there were only two options. I was saying that 1) there are a myriad of options if you look at history, and few of them are good and 2) that I don't judge the likelihood of things being better by replacing our current system as high, mainly because I haven't seen a successful replacement since the American Revolution. But of course there are a lot of options, and I don't mean to preclude any. I am just expressing what I believe to be the likely outcome, and thus why I am against such an action. It isn't that I don't agree with your goals of a constitutional limited government, I do, it is that I don't believe the current moment has any way of leading toward that.

Reps don't care about what you tell them, they know that a gun owner serious enough to contact them isn't going to vote for the other party, and the incumbent almost always gets their party nomination, so there's basically zero risk to them in pissing you off. Politics is simple now, there will be NO compromise by either side. They both put all their eggs in getting a majority, when they do they ram as much through as possible. Rest of the time they just obstruct as much as possible.

Dems and the media are getting people used to the idea that the filibuster needs to at least be modified. You see it daily in the media how the Dems are "just trying to make America better, but those GOPs reps won't let them do it!" I've seen the same general quote from DNC reps repeatedly as of late: "I was elected to help America, not give excuses why the GOP stopped us!" It's genius because it tugs at that one thing 99% of Americans agree on and are pissed off about, and that's that politics is mostly a broken stalemate.

They will, and are putting forward legislation sheeple can be convinced is "reasonable" and will roast the GOP for blocking it, over and over. These 2 gun control issues are perfect examples. Neither is "taking guns from law abiding citizens" but when the GOP blocks them the media is going to scream from the hilltops "Look first the GOP tried to keep you from getting your $1400 stimulus checks, and now the GOP is blocking legislation to keep criminals from getting guns!" I'd bet we see the same thing with immigration, taxes etc.

That said, people talk about the filibuster like it's always been that way. It was almost never used until the late 1950's when it gained popularity being used trying to block civil rights bills from being passed. For the vast majority of this country's history simple majority passed legislation.

Sooner or later they will ban things, punish certain types of people, and take the gloves off with citizens.

Rather than concern ourselves with "communications" with elected shitbags, wouldn't it be more prudent to spending the time left deciding on the next phase of the planned destruction of this country?

Eventually every person will have to decide on what they will do about it.

It's coming, sooner methinks.

Calling, emailing and voting is a form of mental masturbation.

This country is too far gone for those quaint conventions to work anymore.

It'll have to get worse before it gets better sadly.

Calling, emailing and voting is a form of mental masturbation.
I'm still going to vote in all the primaries and elections that I am eligible to vote in and contact my elected representatives as well as those wishing to be elected, and make my concerns politely known to them.

It may do nothing but at least you get to claim the moral high ground of at least you tried your best.

My "Representation" told me straight up they don't care what I think or what I want. Their Agenda is to keep their big $ job and fuck anyone and everyone who disagrees. They are paid by people with more money than God to make sure the richest of the rich get richer and they don't fucking care what I want.

Vote how ya want. It won't matter - we are owned and operated by the richest .01% for their profit and ends.

It's effectively over until Reformation. Brace for The Crash and watch The Republics' failure. Control the crash as best you can.

I would say, continue to vote. Voting takes very little effort / resources.

Consider all the time and resources these "hot topics" are robbing.... Stop being robbed. The only instincts you have are God given. Look inward for answers. To look outward for answers opens the door to propaganda. Spend a day without that IPhone. Get yourself in the best physical condition possible. Stop trying to convince other's of your "cause".... Devote your resources (time, money, family, religion, etc) towards bettering your chances of survival. It will only get worse.

One line from Lucifer's Hammer- It seems the world is ruled by men with guns.

When asked about gun ban shit:

"Thank you for contacting me about gun safety in our country. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with me.
Over the years that I’ve been honored to serve as your representative, I’ve gotten calls and emails on this issue more than perhaps any other. I’ve heard from responsible, law-abiding folks who follow the laws and own guns for sport, hunting, hobby, or home protection. And I’ve heard from folks who are heartbroken after a tragedy has occurred or who have been personally affected by a shooting. I respect all of those perspectives. Like most folks in our area, I don’t support legislation that would take away guns from law-abiding citizens or infringe on their Second Amendment right to own and buy firearms. I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and understand that the vast majority of gun owners follow the laws.
There are common-sense steps Congress could take to address the problem of gun violence that respect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans. Recently, the House of Representatives took up such legislation, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act (H.R. 8) and the Enhanced Background Checks Act (H.R. 1446). In my view, this legislation – which is consistent with current law in our state as passed by the voters via initiative – doesn’t impede the rights of responsible gun owners but can make it harder for felons and those with a serious mental illness to acquire a weapon.
Ultimately, everyone agrees that we want to live in safe communities where we don’t have to fear going to concerts, or malls, or church, or movies, or school, or work. I am hopeful that our country will continue to engage in a constructive and respectful conversation on this issue.
I encourage you to continue to share your views with me on this topic or any other issue. Thank you for reaching out. I am honored to serve as your representative."

So what do you all make of it? Placating? I don't agree and my reply centered on "So then, when does it stop?" with a promise to follow up. In fact, I'm gonna step it up --I'm going to make appointments to visit them in their office. A visit is worth more than ten thousand letters and a thousand phone calls I understand.

He's right in that neither of these bills will much affect WA sales --we already got stuck with that over the initiative (which was numbered confusingly next to a no tax on groceries and antis were able to get signatures for one initiative by selling it as the other --when that came to light, oops! "But we're not fixing it"; bullshit).

I somehow doubt this will be all he votes on, I noticed he didn't mention Frankenfeinstein's bill, which passed the senate of course.

What do you guys think? Discuss away.

But please, write these bastards. If for no other reason than to say you did all you could in the event this goes south, which it looks like they're hellbent on doing.

I would say if you support the bill of rights, she isn’t your “representative” as much as some type of “community leader”

So you pretend to be tall as well?
I don't pretend to be anything. I just don't really understand your point that none of the future revolutions were successful. Dozens were, and they all produced terrible places to live. There is nothing in the bent of the current revolutionary mindset in this country, nor in the particular moment in history, that would lead me to believe it would be different here. Tell me where I am wrong, because to me it looks like the bad guys are far more revolutionary in nature than the good, and the moral and intellectual quality of the good guys is so low as to perhaps make them more dangerous than the bad.

All this haggling and debate is meaningless. Our elected officials have been screwing us for many years, now. I have to think it's a running joke, in D.C., between many Democrats and Republicans, that We The People, are a bunch of idiots, who keep believing the same lies, over and over.
Gun control has nothing to do with guns and wearing masks has nothing to do with covid. If people choose to kill other people they will always find a way to do it. Walmart has more than enough stuff to cause some major damage to a crowd. You could probably take out a city block, if you shopped right items at Home Depot.
The Leftists know that the sensible Right has faith the American process and loves peace, unlike themselves, who throw tantrums, burn, pillage and murder, when they are made to live by common sense and the law. This is how the left got Biden/Harris elected. This is how they will remove the Bill of Rights, incrementally, until one day, we wake up and everything is communist gray, all actions and communication is monitored and there is no incentive, except to work, until we die.
Unless....

You may then look at all of the state legislatures, dominated by rep that have recently instituted constitutional carry and other second amendment securing bills. That wasn’t very hard.

The two are, of course, not the same in the same way that punching somebody and not giving them a hand job are not the same, or fundamentally in the way that if you start at zero and get to -1, it is not the same as starting at zero and not getting to 1.

thanks for playing but you started with a shitty hand.

State legislatures != fed.gov. You'll get no argument from me that this shit matters at the state level. You also know damn well nothing good has happened at the federal level for, oh, decades; regardless who is in charge. More debt, more war, less freedom, middle class kicked in the nuts, regardless who is in charge of the House and Senate. When R's start repealing the Patriot Act, provide any sort of reform of NFA '34 or GCA '68, or actually walk down the national debt by a single dollar, then we can talk about modifying my position.

You also need to address these allegations that you're really a sock puppet account for Bender.

I might be dumb, but not so dumb that I would live in Cheyenne, WY, so def not a Bender sock puppet. To use one of his brilliant analogies, it is like walking through a party at the Playboy Mansion and ending up with your ass straddling a big dick.

But again where I believe you are wrong is that you are conflating zero and negative one. Given a binary choice, not getting new bad legislation is a much better outcome than getting new bad legislation. Of course, repealing old bad stuff would be even better, but that doesn't make the first two options equal. Do I wish that weren't the case? Of course, and I would much prefer they did repeal them, but I also live in the real world, and know that given a binary choice, I will always choose the less bad. And it is a binary choice, because the choice is between an R or D getting elected, not voting or voting L is an option for you, but it doesn't represent a possible outcome.

To put it in real world terms, would you like NFA '34, GCA '68 AND AWB '21, or would you like just NFA '34 and GCA '68? There's your choice. They aren't the same thing.

I'm not saying that nobody should participate in this scam, just why "I'm"not anymore.

Maybe you are right and I'm wrong, who really knows? Yet.

Fuck these cheesedick ,shitbag china-bought motherfuckers.

The rest are a bunch of noise in the background to me.

NPCS', if you will.

No, I'm not conflating something as simple as 0 and -1 as you suggested in an earlier post. If we establish the value of voting Dem as -1 and voting principled conservative is +1, then voting Uniparty Repub is something like -0.9. OK, maybe a few really good Repubs are close to 0 and several more are floating around -0.5, but that's still not good. You might be fine with that; I'm not, and it's clear to me that it's time to make a strategic stand instead of voting tactically in hopes of bleeding out slower. If someone could demonstrate the strategic value of buying time, great, but that hasn't been demonstrated in the past 40 years or so.

The funny thing is that all this logic can be flipped right around to apply to Democrats and liberals as well. If they were honest with themselves (few are, just as is the case on the right), they'd have to realize that they also not achieving their strategic goals with tactical voting - there still hasn't been a gun ban, or universal single-payer healthcare, and wealth redistribution is a joke (unless we're talking about redistributing to Wall Street and Silicon Valley), and we still haven't made peace and dismantled the US military.

But man, the Uniparty sure has done a great job convincing 90% of voters that it makes sense to continuously vote for compromised candidates.

Yes, yes I did.

I don’t see red or blue, I see pro constitutional, or anti constitutional.

Being tribal when it comes to politics is a sign of a peasant mindset.

99% of ALL politicians would have zero hesitation to sell your family down the river, even the babies they kiss on camera, for a 1% approval rating gain.

It’s in governments nature to increase their power, thus decreasing yours, it SHOULD be in the people’s nature to default to decreasing governments power while increasing theirs, sadly big gov has once again become the religion of choice for the masses.

Vote how ya want - both candidates work for the same .01% and your choice, while we want to believe that it is Conservatives VS Liberals/Socialist/Communist's or Democrats VS Republicans, is actually to vote for shit vs fuck. We are screwed - the 2 party System is fatally flawed and must be replaced.

How We The People do that is the question. Vote how ya want and feel good that we have vanquished the Libtards or the Fascists. But the fact is that we get only *2* choices and this is how the System is rigged. Jokes on US! They *all* work for the same .01% and tout minor, powerful influences to make US think we have a choice. But we don't. Both sides want yer money and to gain power over the trillions of $ in 401k's and personal savings. They want to liquidate US for their own personal gain and we think we are voting out the folks that disagree with where it needs to go?

Vote. But understand that we are not gonna vote our way out of this in a 2 party System. We need more choices and that's not gonna happen. The "System" is rigged and not the Way we think it is. we have two choices...both work for the same Boss and it *Aint* US!

No. W/r/t gun laws, no new laws is zero. Stasis. Nada. To suggest otherwise is just dishonest. The only anti gun action taken by anybody in the ten years Republicans had control over at least one branch of government was by executive action. Literally none was done by congress, so zero it is. You can scream "uniparty" all you want, but in this case it is just blowing smoke. A total lie. If anybody is going to be honest, it would have to be that Trump was more damaging to gun rights over the last four years than any of the "uniparty" conservatives, and more disregardful of the constitution than any as well. All while having his orange balls gargled by self arrogated constitutionalists. I mean, if we are going for honesty and all.

If you want to talk about other issues, fine, but this thread is about gun control.

Just makes it a lot easier to respond in kind.

I'm just writing and marking time at this point, I wanna be able to say I did all I could, look in the mirror and sleep at night --my only real goals in life anymore. That and "doing the right thing".

Besides, it literally takes all of ten seconds to click on the email alert and send the preloaded message. When our founders started a revolution they openly admitted that when the facts were viewed plainly, there was almost no hope for them to succeed in, let alone survive, what they were starting.

That is why the Declaration says "With firm reliance on Divine Providence..." They bet their lives, their country, and their fortunes on their belief that what they were doing was right and that God would make up the difference in the disparity of their situation with England. Look at how often they issued calls for public prayer and fasting during the Revolution. HE is what they were banking on, and it worked.

Some are worse than others. That is among the worst I have seen. One of our senators is awful, same canned shit. The other, Daines, literally had an impromptu round table in the SLC airport with people waiting for their flight to Missoula last February, right before Covid hit. Seemed like a legit guy, but he is going to vote correctly on this shit anyway. There is probably a correlation in there somewhere.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't believe in God, though I am very supportive of religion in general. I also think there is plenty of evidence that many of the founders did not believe in God either, but that is neither here nor there. There are good arguments to be made on both sides.

That said, I don't disagree with your analysis of me. I am pretty pragmatic, and certainly earth bound. I'd say analytical. I also agree that the odds were bad for the founding fathers, yet they persisted. Thankfully. I happen to believe that the odds are significantly different now from then, given the benefit of hindsight. Perhaps it is my lack of faith that makes me believe that. It sure as hell isn't because I am a communist, pedophile or retard, as many on here like to call me. But in conclusion, I think it is a much greater task now given the technological advances and the lack of home field advantage. In many ways, the colonists were better equipped and certainly had home field. They also were fighting with an enemy that had enemies abroad, whereas in this day, nearly every country in the world would be on the side of the left in the US. Certainly every significant one would.

So that is my thinking.

We’ve come to expect nothing better from “party” murray......

CYA form letter where he tried to placate the 2A crowd while still be a fucking liberal anti-gun cock sucker.

Look....felons...gang bangers, thugs, rapists, car jackers, etc...... aren't buying their guns at gun shows.

The 800 gun murders a year in Chicago ain't from legal guns purchased at gun shows.

Do you live in a WA coastal area or is this shithead from one of the inland counties?
From the coast to the Cascades, doesn’t matter. They’re all assholes. The only decent ones are east of the mountains.

United States Senator

You cannot reply. They've effectively insulated themselves from us --they do not work for us anymore and view our Rights as a roadblock to their agenda.

Literally. Give. Zero. Fucks.

It's not like they ever read anything we send (I've tested this before, rarely do they reply and it's always some aids, I mean aide). It's all about numbers --they need to be inundated with "fuck no's".

I’d have had more respect if she just responded

“I don’t care what you think, but I’ll be sure to pander to you with lies come re-election time”
