Rifle Scopes thoughts on Burris xtr ii 8-40x50

Need an optic for my armalite 50bmg. Looking at the Burris xtr ii 8-40x50
Distance 800-2000 yards
For fun not competition
I want to stay under $1500

I have one...
The glass is great, and I've had it on some heavy recoiling guns with no problems...
But no where near as much recoil as a .50 BMG!
It's the only FFP scope I have, and it's tough for me to get used to how small the reticle is at 8x
The clarity and eye box at 40x is great though.

I will tell you, with an FFP scope most people do not realize that you will very rarely use it on its lowing setting. Furthermore, when you doing it, use it in the lit reticle function and you will be fine. That being said, I have 5 Burris xtr 2's and have zero issues with them. My only concern with the 8-40 scope is the amount of elevation that you have in the scope.
