Thoughts on Surefire Ear Pro?

I just got a pair of the EP4's in and I can say that they don't attenuate as much sound as my Howard Leight Airsoft plugs, but they can fit under my muffs a lot better. I wouldn't want to shoot much more than a 308 with just these. Also the Hock's Noise Breaker seems gimicky. I haven't tried them with the stoppers out.

So, what are you're guys' thoughts on them?

The EP4s are a little more glamorous than foam ear plugs and they last a lot longer. The EP4s also cost more than the generic foam ear plugs. In terms of performance, there is probably little to no difference between the foam ear plugs and EP4s.

You definitely want to double up with earmuffs if your neighbors on the line are using a brake.

I agree with doubling up with muffs when there are breaks. When I went out to the range with the EP4's someone had a 338LM with a muzzle break and I was glad I doubled up, otherwise it wouldn't have been very pleasant.

I have been using them since 2009, flew with them instead of my CEPs and right now they are all I use. I have used H. L. but I like the compactness of the surefires better. FWIW I shoot with and without brakes SBR AR thru 300 WM. and have no issues.

Regardless of what brand of electronic ear protection out there I want to see a set with a timer, meaning you set the timer and they shut off.

I go though a ton of batteries because I keep forgetting to turn them off.
