Anyone worked with this aluminum bedding block for Rem 700. Seems like a solution to trying out some stocks without traditional bedding. I know there is a guy (Don Stith) who offers one for his stocks for the Quad. This one, Widden only offers one for the 700, with many accuracy claims. Regards

Re: Thoughts On Widden Alum Bedding Block ?

I think by the time you pay for the block, order a stock inletted for it then pay for the block install, it would be cheaper to bed the action in and be just as if not better in accuracy.

^^^Maybe not, I just came off Widden Gunworks website, his stocks look good, and are some of the best priced composite stocks I've seen, they come with one his V-blocks installed, as part of the purchase price. I was also surprised to see he has v-blocks (and stocks with v-blocks) for Savage, both the single shot, and repeaters. I'm about to order one for a Rem LA, in 4-6 weeks, I'll know a lot more. John Widden, is by no means a new guy to the art of shooting!

Sir, you may be correct, however; I'm ordering one of the Widden "tactical stocks", with the bedding block installed, here is what I got, and what I paid:

The Whidden 175 is ideally configured for tactical shooting. Available options make it the custom stock of choice for the serious shooter. The adjustable cheek piece, adjustable monopod with spacer-variable length of pull, plus multiple sling stud and swivel configurations all add up to an off-the-shelf custom stock that can fit every customer. In any configuration, the stock’s flat toe surface provides positive bracing on sandbags, while its integrated butt hook makes the best of every improvised shooting position.

*****Now just buying the block, then having it inletted on another brand, may very well (and I'm sure you're right) run the price up. But when you purchase the stock, with it already installed, the price seems very reasonable to me. The adjustable check piece, etc. for 5 and 1/2 seems competitive in todays market. In fact, I think the Widden stocks are being sold at a better price point (like comparisons) than other composite stocks on the market. I always seem to have a new stock to buy for something, if you know of better deals, please post, I love to save money! I should note: I've never used on of these stocks, but I do have some of Widden's dies, first class. If his dies are any indication of the quality of his stocks, I should be happy. If not, I'll be the first one posting about it. I realize that you can use the same stock for various action, if using the v-block as the only source of bedding, I have no plans to use it that way. It may be a good system, I just prefer to have a stock for every rifle I own, not one stock and x amount of actions-I'm not saying it's a bad thing, for some it may be great, but I'm old fashion in this regard.
