Yes they are probably the best bang for the buck but do you really wanna skimp on a can?
I had one, sold it (lost money) and bought a more specialized can.

I liked their 308 can (friends can I put on my gun) Really pretty quiet, even with supersonic ammo.
Built like a tank.
I chose the Ops Inc 12th based on good reputation AND looks. I wanted an M110 look-alike.

they are excellent cans. dont let people tell you otherwise. I own 4 Phantoms all in 7.62
Sound investment! go for it. I dont think one can is more "specialized" then the other.... over engineered, yes. YHM cans are built like tanks, probably over built. But they perform great and are very quiet. Id put them up against AAC, gemtech, or surefire anyday.

I like them, solid construction, very good customer service from YHM. Side by side with other pricier cans, it's hard to tell the difference, I did a demo with 3 different cans, YHM, AAC, AWC, the customer was up in the air about the purchase, until he was given the prices, after a nanosecond of thought he chose the YHM, a solid value for sure.

Cans are more specialized. For instance, say I need/want a can below **.** oz/lbs to stay below a certain weight limit on the complete package, that is a specific feature one can will have and another will not. This creates a form of specialization among products.

Again, yes they are good cans. It depends what you want in your can.

stay away from the Mite...that one sucks...
Ive tried their 223 and 308 cans and would agree that they are much better !

Yeah I would like to hear what facts warrented his claim that the YHM Mite sucks. I researched and the Mite is a good can for the bucks $250 or so. It's also capable of taking apart and cleaning it. I got the YHM Mite, YHM 5.56 SS Phantom and the Surefire QD .308. I think they are good choices for the order of importance and money spent.

I have a YHM phantom in 5.56, I think its pretty loud and wish I would have spend more money. If your looking for an economical 22 can check out silencertalk.com and search for thompson machine, they have cans that are in the 120-300 price range that perform pretty good.

Before seeking his opinion about the Mite, first ask him if he owns one.

I bought the Mite (stainless) for usage on a semi auto. I also have a Gemtech Outback and my bud is a dealer so I get to play with his toys also.
The Mite performs poorly on any platform I have tried it on...to include a Ruger 10/22 both 16" and 20" barrels and with Wolf,Rem Subs and Aguila both 38 and 40 Subs.. I also use it on a 10" Contender barrel, Walther P22 and a CZ Varmint and a CZ452 Lux. It suppresses poorly and I have thousands of rounds through it. It does come apart to clean which is a plus but it is simply not in the same class as the Gemtech,AAC or Silencerco products. Considering the investment in time and tax stamp one would be MUCH better served by the Silencerco or the Element.
Look on John Titsworths site for his review...performed just as poorly in his tests...makes a great fuckin paperweight though

I've got the 7.62 and have tried on several platforms, works well. Wha you get for more money, IMHO, is a lighter suppressor but not necessarily a much quieter one.

I have described this suppressor exactly the way it performs based on hands on usage and doing actual comparissons to other 22 cans that I have access to. The suppressor functions poorly...to describe it in any other fashion would be foolish.
On the other hand it does make a very handy paperweight that can serve as a suppressor and will be adequate if used with water...
Had I read the reviews on Silencerresearch prior to buying I could have saved a couple of months in wait time and a wasted tax stamp...

I have no experience with the tac 65, but i would be curiouse to hear it. I have a Pilot, which sell on GB nor for like 200-250 bux and an Element which is top of the line. When you shoot them side by side, you have to really pay attention and shoot them several times to finally recognize the difference. I know the element is a take appart, full auto rated, 22 mag rated etc. but it shows that cheap cans can offer very very close performance to the big boys.

I have a Outback II and shot it against a standard (non SS) Mite on both our pistols. G17 and 1911 conversions, same ammo. The Mite was unquestionably quieter. This was a few years ago so maybe the YHM design changed.

I have two YHM cans, A 5.56 Phantom QD and a QD Mite.
The Phantom is a bit on the heavy side but otherwise I like it alot.
The Mite is not a POS, its a PITA to take apart though if you forget to crack it open after shooting. Compared to a Silencerco Sparrow, it performed very well and I couldn't tell a huge difference between the two on a MKIII and a 10/22

regardless of being new or old they flat out work well. Ya they are a bit heavy but I would rather have a good solid built can on the end of my rifle then some little tin foil "lightweight" overpriced suppressor.
YHM makes good stuff. They have recently released a Phantom in 338 as well. Compared to everyone else the price is VERY affordable.

They are "old" in that Soundtech patented the slant baffles, but YHM doesn't simply use Mark White's blueprints. I don't think he ever used inconel in anything, for example. Nor did he make any cans with Neilsen devices, to my knowledge. They just have to pay him royalties for using slant baffles.

i have a 'high end' can , AAC scar h, bought it brand new
and within a month of me getting mine my buddy got Yankee hill phantom 30 cal can -
he had his barrel cut down to 18.5" at the same time
the YHM phantom is more quiet than the AAC
this is not using a docimeter but its painfully obvious to all involved , about four shooters hanging out with cans
his YHM had a very minor POI shift, approximately 1" left and low which is super repeatable, and the rifle shoots one ragged hole with AND without the can ;
so no accuracy degradation was seen
considering the price, and the fact the YHM has made 'can' parts for several of the so called 'big boys' , ie., mounts, QD mounts, etc., it makes you wonder, why spend the extra coinage for really no apparent reason ?
unless you have a need for a SPECIFIC can / application , the YHM is VERY hard to beat
there is SOOOOO much freakin hype with cans, its really hilarious.
there is a lot of can, baffle making for suppressor companies by a couple of large manufacturers;
the suppressor manuf. gets the 'parts' , assembles them, markes them with their ATF required data, and voila!, they are suddenly 'making' cans . . .lol
it appears to me, and this is just my observation, that some folks that have CAD experience are drawing up a design , having it fabbed up, and then going to market
there is a huge money in GOVT contracts - that is the push of course, to land one for any company ; once you are there , you have 'made it'
i am not against any of this , at all ;
just shedding some light , on what comes across as some mysterious , voodoo riddled, la la land of suppressors, and those that make them ,
its a flipping metal tube with a baffle core, thats mounted to the end of a barrel . period.

I also have a YHM phantom for my 308, just as quiet or more so than any of my other suppressors, a can is a can, you will like it.
