I recently purchased a Savage 10FP in .308 from a gentleman here on the hide. The ad said the following: " I used a throating reamer to push the throat back a bit to take advantage of the large inner diameter of the Savage DBM. I was loading 208 A-max to 2.980" and was .020" off and with 155s COAL should be about 2.9" to be the same distance off."
Well I am not really sure what all this means. Can anyone explain the real purpose of this operation?
I reload and I was planning on shooting 175SMK's from this rifle. Do I just reload the catridge's to the suggested overall length or do I reload them longer?
Is there anything else I need to be aware of since the throat was pushed back?
Thanks in advance for any replies! Jay
