Thumb rest for support hand- PRS

What is everybody using for the support hand thumb rest, squeeze the bag with your thumb supported? I remember seeing a round one with a push button release but I can't see to find it. I don't really like the gray ops one based on pictures and I've never seen it out in the wild. Post pics of what your using or if you made a home made one

You are probably talking about a sikes clutch. Try GA Precision.
Just search the term and it should pop up. They are qd so you will need a female qd connection on your rifle. They work great

@hookedonbrass makes a pretty good thumb shelf, adjustable via arca. I love mine. Not sure of a link or how to find the thread, maybe he can chime in.

OP: what stock(s) are you using? That would help...

2 solutions I've stumbled into, that work for my MPA/XLR, after trying a Sykes clutch and Grey OPs nubs, etc.:

1) MPA side rails work very well on my MPAs and provide a long continuous shelf for support hand, and
2) A low profile enclosed forend provides similar continuous coverage for support hand pressure/pinching, like the XLR envy pro full cover, and you don't need doodads bolted to the sides if your barrel is covered.

Those are the 2 competition stocks i've really figured out for my preferences, but on my manners, it's still a sykes clutch in a custom swivel port (wish it was closer tho) or support hand on top of front scope ring pressing down onto barricade benchrest support bag, lolol.

For me, I'm finding that a fully enclosed forend is a good feel and quick solution for my support hand to settle wobble without reaching for a specific spot.
Really like my XLR Envy Pro and MPA side rails, and the JP APAC looks nice as does the AI AT-X full rail, but I've not tried them, but YMMV, etc.

Depending on your stock, like an MDT, you could always just run a side weight or 2, which also serve as easy thumb rests.

Just another gear rabbit hole to figure out I suppose...

I got MDT ACC chassis that I have a short section of mlok picatinny rail mounted to the side as a thumb rest

Don't think you can be more practical than that as-is. I have a buddy with an identical MDT who runs the Gray Ops thumb shelf, but he radiused the top thumb edge so it's not as sharp. You could also replace that pic rail with a side weight that has a sling swivel insert so you can pop in a Sykes clutch, as mentioned above.

I'm building another rifle and will be using an enclosed forend (KRG - I liked the look of it and it takes care of this issue).

I'm in upstate NY, out by herkimer. I think if I cut some of the teeth of the front of that pic rail it might work but yes I'm gonna grab the sikes clutch to try out

Alderbrook is 6 hours from me, that's why I never got a chance to shoot a match out there this past summer. Also I don't have my load all trued up yet

Serves two purposes as I understood it. A thumb rail like portion, with some weight added to them as well depending on the material they were made of.

My rifle is pretty balanced right now so I'd like to avoid adding more weight, but that thumb weight thing on Keith bakers rig looks nice, and gives you a bigger area to get better purchase on it. If that becomes available I might have to pick one up

I have the GrayOps thumb shelf on both rifles. It works 2 fold for me. I use it when picking up the rifle. I have it placed in the balance point to a little forward. Then a rest to squeeze down on the bag with. I use it on MDT ACC and XLR Envy Pro.

I have a strategically placed external weigh that works great for this use. I run an AT-X now so I use their weights. On my old rifle I used MDT external weights on the MLok rail. But for my use that extra weight up front never bothered me
