If they're stationary they're going to last a lot longer than they would getting towed around the country. The best description I ever heard for what a camper experiences while being towed, is it's have a massive earthquake for the duration of it's journey for hours and hours. Nothing will be able to withstand that forever. My camper went on a 12,557 mile trip to Alaska and back, shortly after getting it. I've since towed it to colorado, texas, montana, south dakota, and a couple canoe trips. I put the mileage over 20,000 for sure. I've had some minor issues with shit shaking loose, but it's little stuff that I can easily repair. For your application of using it essentially as a cabin, it would be a very cost effective option for you. Once you build your cabin, sell the camper, and you're not selling to a dump for scrap, you're selling to someone that wants it, and you'll quite possibly get most of your money back out of it.

Hell, I have 4 of them right now. I don't pull the camper around all that much, but it's still cheaper to daily the truck than pay for a commuter car and have a truck to tow with.
Then again I'm that guy that won't buy anything less than an 8' box, because I actually use them. The cute little 5' boxes are useless to me. May as well own a station wagon if you're going to get a short box 1/2 ton.

I have a HUGE window A/C in my shop. It does just OK with the real tall building. I have a car lift in the shop. Next spring I am looking into a "mini-split" they seem fairly easy to setup. This fall I plan on doing the wire I need to get it where I want it.
Having someone put gutters on the shop (I hate ladders) so I can catch some rain water for the sink I just put in. Nice to wash your hands when you are grimey.
