Tikka CTR - How to lengthen COAL

Need some help here. I'm going to build something off a Tikka T3 action and need a COAL of about 3.10-3.20". My CTR magazine now measures only 2.92". I see Mountain Tactical has a CTR AICS CONVERSION BOTTOM METAL that lets me use AI mags. Does anyone know if that would allow me to run a long action mag for a 300wm and be plenty long for my needs?

Any other ways to do this?

Thanks. that was helpful. He went away from the CTR completely. I have a CTR stock already and need to replace the bottom metal to allow me to run a longer COAL.

You can go the standard Tikka bottom metal (which will fit the CTR stock) and run LA Tikka mags. That's what I did for my 6.5 PRC.

Not a bad idea. I'll have to fit a standard bottom onto my CTR stock and check it out. You just using the factory plastic mags? or the billet aluminum ones? Assume you use the mags for 300wsm?

Just the regular plastic mags LA. I initially used one I had for a 7mag. Haven't had any issues so I bout another one.

If you're wanting AICS long action mags, the Atlasworx AICS Long Action DBM is a pretty simple to install and get running.

And that will 'drop' into a CTR stock with some minor inletting?

Liking the factory mag option since it allows a flush magazine bottom as well.

When you did this, did you have gaps on the sides of the bottom piece? Did you fill them in or just leave as is?

I had the gaps. I just left it until I got a new stock for it.
