Hey guys new to posting on the forum but have been reading this thing for years. I recently purchased a Tikka T3X CTR and when I went to put on my Surefire SOCOM adapter it looks like it’s meant for a different barrel contour or different caliber? Any help would be great. You can see the barrel isn’t even close to the size of the inlet of the adapter. Thoughts?

How do you know your barrel is threaded 5/8?

What caliber is it?

Hard to estimate from the pics but those threads look 1/2x28 to my calibrated mk1 eyeM Measuringtool

Sorry I just realized I left that little detail out. It’s chambered in 308. I checked the packaging on the adapter and the model number on the the adapter itself and they both match up? I have the same adapter on my AR-10 and it looks like the same size? Haven’t put a set of calipers on it yet

So it looks like the ID of the adapter is .713 and the OD of the barrel threads is .6175? Not sure how to calculate the threads with calipers? why would the adapter be so much larger? Or is it an issue with the barrel?

Yeah after looking at this more closely I think this was a bad cut from SF. I have this adapter on another gun and it steps down at the end. This one does not? I’ve reached out to Omaha Outdoors to see if they can send me a new one. Thanks guys.

You purchased or were sent a SF brake for a SR25 model SFMB-762-SR25 084871319195. That model is a dedicated MB meant for a specific rifle and barrel and the tag doesn’t match the packaging.

What you need is the SFMB-762-5/8-24 084871319263.

Came here to say this. OP bought a MB that has it cut so the break fits over a SR25 barrel. On a regular bolt rifle OP would either need to turn down the barrel behind the threads to the proper OD or buy the correct muzzle device for a bolt rifle as noted by mb121.

Yeah just spoke with Surefire before seeing this post and you are exactly right. The vendor sent the wrong one. I ordered the LR308 brake and they sent the LR25. Hopefully Omaha Outdoors can get a new one sent to me in a quick fashion so I can go bang steel this weekend. Really appreciate all the help guys.
