Tikka heavy barrel

Other than the tactical, where did all the heavy barreled Tikkas in .308 go? The scout isn't anywhere to be found and I believe the Varmint got discontinued. Will I have to spend $1500 just to get a Tikka heavy barrel?

Are they back logged or are they just forcing everyone to buy their Tactical model for a heavy barreled .308?

Are you sure? As far as I know the Varmint, Varmint Stainless, Super Varmint and Sporter are all part of the current T3 line up.

I believe they stopped making or importing the CTR Scout. I am guessing that it cut too much into the sales of their tactical models.

Call Cabelas in Glendale AZ I saw a .308 scout on the gun counter last week.

You can do a FFL transfer to your local FFL dealer.

you have got to be kidding me, once again beretta is about the dumbest, worst customer service company I have ever seen. a quick look at gun broker revealed there are NO tikka varmints in 308 for sale. what a freaking joke, sometimes I think they are trying to sabotage the company. I remember trying to contact beretta once, what a joke try just finding an email for them and if anyone will actually answer it.

the stupid thing is the only heavy barrel 308's for sale are the tactical model which sells for $1450, no thanks!!!! for that much money you can do your own 308 up with a custom barrel. I was actually kinda wanting a heavy barrel 308 but I am not spending $1500 and I want more than a 20" barrel. maybe ruger will give them some competition with their new rifle which is very similar to the tikka.

I had spoken with a guy at Beretta a while back when I was having a hard time finding a T3. The reason they're easy to get, then sparse is because Beretta does purchases in quantity from Tikka. They don't want to pay the cost to import 100 rifles at a time, so they wait until they are going to import 5000 which means that Tikka has to get 1000 rifles built and set aside for Beretta to import. Honestly, what you're coming up against here is a logistics problem, not a business problem. Beretta has to wait on Tikka to build quantity and they don't knock rifles out at the same rate as your basic Remmington 700.

Beretta does not have to buy rifles from Tikka as Beretta owns Tikka, Sako, Benelli, Stoeger, etc.

The Scout is no longer listed for sale at many firearm distributors. I really hope it is a logistical issue, because the Tikka Scout is a great buy.

Sort of...they're under the same holding company (Beretta Holding Group). That doesn't mean that Beretta USA doesn't have to purchase the guns from Tikka. Tikka has it's own operating costs, budgets, etc... and so does Beretta USA. Beretta Holding Group just happens to hold them both, but they both have a separate general ledger. Basically, this means they both have to act as independant companies, which means one has to buy from the other, setup contracts, etc...

I live across the street from Cabelas and this is correct. They brought in a bunch of Scouts in both 223 and 308 last month cause they were on sale for $800.

I hope tikka will never compromise the quality of their rifles in order to increase production. However, I do wish we could get all the models in the line up. I'd love a super varmint......
Had to go the long route, building a custom tikka.

with more aftermarket parts showing up more and more, it's gona be hard to beat tikka.

My dealer just found me a Varmint Stainless .223 at Jerrys...his cost $711. He ordered it for me, and I will end up paying $822 with tax and shipping...not a bad deal. He did say the Scout was not in stock at any of Jerrys locations.

My conspiracy theory - Tikka is forcing people into buying their Sporter line with a $1695 price tag. Scout series just disappeared from market a few months prior to introduction of Sporters

One can buy a used Tikka T3, rebarrel it, then install it on a KRG-3 chassis, and end up with spending about the same and getting a semi-custom shooter of your own flavor. You will also be able to use AI magazines to do away with Tikka's plastic mag

Is the Lite the same action as the Scout, Varmint, Tactical etc? If I buy a used Lite short action, I can re-barrel it to a varmint barrel easily?

the Scout seems to be nothing more than a short barreled Varmint. thats a simple sollution, buy the Varmint and shorten the barrel.

all the T3 actions are the same basic action, stainless and left hand are available, the differences are simply the bolt face diameter and the bolt stop.

So a used T3 can be converted easily into a variety of calibers.

We spoke to the Tikka rep at the Berreta stand at the IWA 2008 with regards to procurement of Tikka actions, we where told they make 30000 t3's per year and hab by march already sold all the t3's they could manufacture up until year end, if we wanted just actions, we better get inline and buy rifles and remove what we didnt need.. or in other words, no to just actions. or even barreled actions.. However, since then we have conatantly bieng badgering certain folk and with a bit of luck actions or at least barreled actions may just become a reality very soon,.
That would would be great as buying parts that you dont need adds expense and it would be great to buy the T3's in like we do with the Howa's just as a barreled action.

Its good to see the T3's getting popular. great basic relaible design.

The T3 is totally interchangeable. If you want to rebarrel, buy the cheapest one you can find and get a new tube put on it, they're all the same.

The price drop is the same as what happened with the Monaro and HSV R8/317 when they sent it to the UK
Send the car over at a low price, everyone got into them, so they scrapped sending over the SS and SSV models, because everyone was buying the more expensive HSV models.
