Tikka KRG stock

Re: Tikka KRG stock

Sadly, the 695 will not work. Well technically we could put in it there, but the magwell on the 695 is so narrow that the AICS mag won't go up into the action. If you wanted to mill on your action a bit, well then it's a possibility. I've got a 695 here that I am going to play with. Unfortunately it's hard to find time.

Re: Tikka KRG stock

It would save me a bundle to buy this and a Tikka, instead of a TRG, but it should have a mag guard. Is it possible to put into this chassis?

Running around with magazines that are only connected to a small lever seems risky to me.

Re: Tikka KRG stock

Look at the surgeon bottom metal. It has a small guard infront of the magazine that will take the knock instead of the magazine. If you are shooting over a wall, and you are beeing a little reckless the magazine will take the knock, but with the mag guard you reduce the risk.

Its the same with the AIAW or TRG that conceals the magazine. With most bottom metal designs on the market now, it hangs there without any protection.

Re: Tikka KRG stock

ahh yes, we just called it something different.

We have a have a couple of solutions, neither of which have appeared in any pics so far. One is a bolt on piece and the other is a new style of forend. The bolt on piece will make production for sure at some point, but we're not sure on the new forend style. Thanks,

I have just replaced regular stock on my SAKO TRG-42 with KRG GEN 3

The first thing I noticed is improved hold without sand bag in prone position. Looks like the stock is heavier and pushes the hand harder to the ground. I do not even see much pulse in the scope anymore @25x. The pulse was mostly coming from my left hand. I had to use heavy leather glove to reduce it. Now it's almost gone.
Another thing I like is the pistol grip. I had hard time to avoid lateral pressure to the left while pulling the trigger with original TRG non-folding stock. This resulted in flyers to the right. Now it's gone. I hope for good :)
It also somewhat improved the balance of the rifle which is extremely front heavy.
You can easily replace cheek piece if you do not like it. I find it OK but some day I will try to replace it with something which fits better to my face.
I find the soft rubber butt is an improvement to the hold as well. In standing position it helps to keep front heavy gun in place (it has a lot of traction) and it also absorbs unwanted movements coming from the shoulder pocket in prone (it's very soft).
You can have your cheek piece as high as you want and still be able to remove the bolt without unscrewing anything.
Plastics looks different from TRG black finish (cheap) and the lines of the rifle are broken but who gives a damn about appearances? The stock looks weird on TRG and maybe some find it heavy but definitely is worth to try.
Be careful where you put your left hand. It can bite you a little bit under heavy recoil.

I though I will get more mobility with it but at the end I think I have got much more.
