So I have the opportunity to buy a Tikka T3X barreled action at a good price and if I do I would be interested in changing it to a 6.5 PRC. I know people have complained that the PRC is too long for a SA if you want to shoot high BC bullets so I was thinking that this 300 Win Mag barreled action would be just the thing. The problem is that I can’t seem to find anyone that makes a stock/chassis for a long action Tikka and preferably one that takes AICS mags. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

the difference is in the bolt stops. the actions themselves are the same.

how the mags work i do not know. just that they are short (not CIP or even close)

All Tikka actions are long actions. You change the bolt stop to adjust the length of the bolt throw. Any stock/chassis for a Tikka will work with any Tikka. There are chassis made that will accept long action AICS mags if you think you will need them for the 6.5 PRC.

@Massoud could possibly help you with one.

All of my Tikkas are chambered for short action rounds, 6.5 Creed, .223, and 22BR. My 22BR started as a 270.

I used an adjustable bolt stop from High Velocity Hunting Australia for my 22BR. There are 3 lengths, short, CTR/medium, and long action bolt stops from Tikka. I would leave it as a long action for the PRC.

I know MDT makes LA Tikka chassis and uses their 3.56 metal mags.
If you want to keep the cost down there are multiple stocks that take the factory bottom plastic or you can upgrade to a metal bdm (cdi, atlas, etc.) and you can use the factory 300 magnum plastic magazine for the 6.5 PRC.
It will hold 3 and 1 in the chamber.

I probably should’ve been more specific with my question. The issue isn’t getting the action fit in the stock since, as others have also pointed out, all Tikka actions have the same footprint. The issue is finding a stock that will take long action AICS magazines. Right now the only thing I’ve found is a Boyd’s stock and there are a couple places I can get bottom metal from to take LA AICS magazines. I was just wondering if there are other options

There is no chassie like the one you are asking for, since the AICS LA mags are too long to fit the action. MDTs 3.56” mags are as long as you can go, along with their chassis.
