So is it just me or has the perception changed around Tikka?

Last time I was in here thinking of a Tikka, every Tikka thread has numerous people spamming it as a crappy rifle with no aftermarket support.

Now it seems like Tikka has carved out a niche market, if not wider, where it has gained something of a grudging respect from many while developing some aftermarket support.

True?

Also, how is the new Sako A7?

Thanks!

Re: Tikka/Sako

don't recall too much slamming of tikka and certainly not sakos........

there were and are limitations with both, especially the tikka. The stock leaves much to be desired and the tactical models are generally seen as overpriced. But, I don't think anyone has ever doubted their out of the box accuracy and shoot-ability. Problem is once they were out of the box there aren't a whole lot of upgrade options.

The sako has always had a somewhat of a niche following---including me. I have a 75 varmint that I won't part with. Currently sits in a mcmillan stock.

Both are seeing an increasing amout of aftermarket attention. Most importantly, Manners is (or is about to) offer stocks for the tikka t3--do a search and you should find a couple of threads on it.

All in all, if you want to "build" a system, there might be easier options. But, sakos and tikkas might be the definition of out of the box shooters....IMHO

I have a couple Tikka Master Sporters (223,7-08) that I feel are on par with anything out. The 2 in the middle
