Hi everyone
Im having trouble with my magazine (I think). 3/4 times I get a jammed cartridge. It either hit the top of the breach or it gets stuck vertical. It's also ALWAYS the fifth bullet.
Looking at it I can se that the tip of the bulletproof rises a little after every cycle until it jams.
Anyone experienced the same and have a solution?
Thanks in advance!

Tried another magazine?

Too bad SK works so darn well in my rifle (5 shots 50m).
I really like Vudoo and would get one without hesitation if it wasn’t for the money. Getting one here to Sweden ends up doubling an already steep price tag!

Anyhow, I haven’t solved the problem but I seemed to have decreased the rate of failure a bit.
The mag well is a loose fit so by moving it as far back (towards rear of rifle) as possible you get a tiny bit more space for the cartridge to straighten out and enter the chamber without snagging the top.
it’s not a 100% cure but from almost certain Ftf every time it now was more like 1/10.
could be worth looking in to if someone else is having similar issues.

CCI SV fed great in my Tikka. Anything with lube would do like you described.

I tried to get the Tikka to work and, just like you found, there does not seem to be a general solution to this problem. Some T1Xs do it, other's don't. Without a solid solution, I moved on to the Vudoo. Is it perfect? No. But it is much better and I know why my Vudoo will misfeed and it's generally user error in loading mags.

The Tikka is a sweet little rifle and I really wish it was much more reliable. You'd see a lot more at the competitions.

All three of my tikka magazines did exactly what you are describing. I took the mag apart and found that all three of them had a little rough right inside the the feed lip where the mag had the notch to allow the rim in which was exactly where mine were starting to kick up. I took some 1000 grit sand paper and smoothed it out. Absolutely no problems over the last 3 or 4k rounds of SK, Lapua, and RWS.

Could you please post a pic of where exactly this is? Would be great if I also can get it to work!!

seconded. I've wanted to chuck my rifle into the woods at more than one match. Best solution I've found so far is to just run the bolt slowly, and if I start feeling resistance, stick my finger in the ejection port to push the round down and keep going. Not really a solution and still frustrating as fuck, but at least it keeps the rounds from going nose up and necessitating ripping the mag out mid-stage.

@Dewil Everyone should have at least five mags. for their T1X:) Trying to diagnose a feeding problem where the mag. is a sample of one is very limiting. The opportunity to try another mag. might isolate the problem.

@BuckeyePrecision already posted magazine exam. while I was out doing chores. I would particularly look at the mag interior where the follower would be at the fifth round as you mentioned that was the round causing the problem.

I've had my T1X a couple of years. I bought additional mags. almost immediately. Initially I had minor feeding problems that I was not able to isolate to a single mag. The problem was in the area of every two to three mags. I took greater care in reloading the mags. and for all intents and purposes the problem has been eliminated.

After five rounds are loaded slap the magazine on your thigh with authority. If there is a "tingy" sound or feel you can rap it on the base and then the back. If that doesn't eliminate the sound/feel then strip the mag. and start over.

I only shoot Center-X so a bad round is a pretty remote possibility. As long as I am religious about the mag loading I have no problems and that includes firing and cycling the rifle while the rifle is supported only by the mag on the top of the post.

Thanks Q-horse! I have ordered one more mag to see if I’m lucky and that works better or at least helps me isolate the problem.
I have examined the mag I have but not really found anything that raises suspicion so I hope Buckey P can point me out where he modded the mag.
Will try loading the mag same as you described.
Really appreciate the help!

I have 5 mags, 2 usually work, 3 usually have issues. I think its a magwell issue. Gotta take my rifle apart and see whats up. I am in a krg xray, 3 factory tikka mags and 2 15 round md mags. Only 2 tikka mags usually work. It seems like the mags sit 1/32" too low to feed or the bullet is nosing down. Gotta look into this farther.
