Tikka T1X first impression

Just got a T1X and got to put some rounds down the barrel yesterday. I fired several different types of ammo of what I had on hand, mostly to see the function of the rifle and get familiar with the scope, which is the Arken EP5. It shot the CCI-SV pretty well and the Lapua CenterX very well. It shot the Norma Tac-22 pretty good and seemed to want to shoot the Aguila Super Xtra as well. I am very pleased with the rifle. I do want to adjust the trigger and down the road would like to drop it in a chassis.

Would you happen to have your groups for the Aguila and the Norma rounds? Was looking into those rounds for my gun, just don’t want to jump on buying a ton and they aren’t so good

Here is the Norma Tac-22. 3 shots were touching. I’m definitely not doubting it wasn’t me. I will be shooting them again, soon I hope. I still have the target and will post the Aguila up. I shot a couple different offerings from Aguila and they weren’t “horrible” just definitely not the best out of what I shot that day.

The last time I was at the range, a shooting buddy had his LabRadar unit out and I was able to test the TAC-22 ammo I was shooting out of my T1x.

It was holding decent groups at 50 yards, but was a bit more erratic at 100... Velocity for 9 of the ten shots was consistent in the 1050-1060 range, but at least one round out of each mag had a velocity around 1016.

I have not tried any of the high-end ammo in mine, but it seems to like SK Std.+ (at least out to 100yds)

Here are the groups of some other ammo I shot. I will also shoot some again, I will see what it does after I get a couple hundred rounds through it. I was mainly wanting to get a “feel” of the rifle. I will definitely be adjusting the trigger. Good break just heavy.

How do you like the scope? Comparable to any other scopes?

@K2e2vin if your asking me I really like the scope. It’s a “best bang for the buck” scope I have purchased. I have several Vortex scopes that I like but this one is a quality scope. For this rifle it’s a perfect match, in my opinion.

That's good to hear. I was having a hard time deciding between the EP5 and a Athlon Midas 5-25 for my CZ457. Eventually went with the Athlon but the Arken is now even cheaper with the coupon(like $430 shipped), so might grab it anyways.

I think you would be well pleased with it.

I did some more shooting/ammo testing this evening. Have 140 rounds through it now. I’m liking the rifle.
