I don't have my T1X in hand yet - I hope to get it delivered this week. If I had it in hand, I wouldn't need to ask this question, but I'd like to get my rings ordered, and I'm unsure of the height I need...

I have the DIP 25 MOA rail in hand.
I'll have the Athlon Argos Gen2 6-25x50 scope tomorrow (according to UPS,anyway)

I'm looking to order rings - in the past I have used Burris Signature Zee rings, and have had no complaints. They have a "Med" height at 0.81" from the rail to ring center, and a "High" at 0.93".

I'd like to keep the scope as low as possible, but have enough clearance for scope covers.

I've read through "most" of the T1X sticky, but get conflicting info on ring height.

Can someone with (or close to) my setup chime in? I'm anxious to get my new rifle setup as soon as I can - this cabin fever is getting to me. o_O

Thanks for the help,
Bob S.

I’m sure someone in your exact circumstances could chime in. Ive got a T1x, but mounted a 50mm straight to a dovetail with Warne 314LM (medium) rings. I used to have a RPRR with a 30MOA base, 44mm objective, and used .97” Seekins rings and barely had enough clearance. I’d say you want at least the high rings, if not higher

I initially mounted my Bushnell Forge on a DIP 25 MOA rail using Warne mountain tech low rings (30mm, 0.87" to center). The objective just barely cleared the barrel but it was too close for the scope cap. Assuming the Midas Tac has a similar objective dimension, I suspect you're going to have to go higher than 0.81 to clear with scope caps.

I believe the Bushnell also has a 50mm Obj. lens like the Athlon I'm getting.

Thanks CodeMonkey - that helps a lot.

Im not sure if you got your answer. This is a 30mm tube and 50mm objective at 1.06 to center. I have a bit of play here, but I would imagine high rings would be a good fit with covers

The Good, the Bad and the Unknown...

The Good - My T1X came in today! I stopped by the shop on the way home, and had a box of "stuff" in the truck to put on it before I even filled out the paperwork. I put the DIP 25 MOA base on it, the factory vertical pistol grip, beavertail forend, and recoil pad. I also adjusted the trigger down to just under 2Lb to start with.

I will say, they must have hired a G.O.-Rilla to put the action in the stock! It was crazy tight!

The Bad - I had ordered a set of rings online, and when the package was delivered, there was a tear in the package and no rings to be found. Luckily, I was given a credit after sending pictures of the package. (but that still leaves me with no rings yet)

I recently picked up a Ruger 10/22 target (spiral barrel) that had a bad scope mount (I still need to fix that), and the scope that came on it is one of the old Simmons Whitetail Classic 6.5-20x50 models - big, thick duplex reticle, but it's a scope in high rings. (I can get some range time!)

The Unknown - I did the penny trick listed above, and it used 5 pennies, so according to that chart, a .94 set of rings should work, and the ones I ordered as replacements for the stolen/missing ones are .97 - so, fingers crossed.

Now to get some trigger time this weekend.

Thanks for all the help,
Bob S.

Well - I finally got most of the parts together...

Tikka T1X
DIP 25 MOA Rail
Tikka Beavertail, Vertical Grip & T3X Recoil Pad
Harris Bipod I had laying around
Athlon Argos Gen2 BTR 6-24 - came with throw lever & scope level
Warne Medium Horizontal Rings

Factory trigger is now set to a crisp 1.5lbs - it might go lower, but not much lower and still be functional.

As you can see - plenty of scope clearance.

I also finally got a few bricks of different ammo in to try - mostly S&K.

CCI SV was OK - usually putting 4 shots into one hole, and a 5th about 3/8" out of the others.

S&K Magazine basically did what CCI SV did - several together, and one outside.
S&K Flatnose Basic and Pistol Match Special were basically identical in performance - and I think shot very well.

Here are a couple of quick pics I took... 50 yard...

So far - I'm liking this Tikka!

Take care,
