birmingham, al
to all my fellow tikka t3 owners looking for after market upgrades, it occurred to me that we would benefit with one unified continuous thread on this topic. i have seen threads here regarding:
-upgraded triggers [i bought a barnard and had mac at mtguns install if for me-major improvement over the factory trigger, i have it at 1lb.];
-added the roedale muzzle brake, shoots very well and worth the cost of the upgrade;here is the link with a photo. http://www.webshop.roedale.de/product_info.php?info=p315_Muzzle-Brake-M18.html
-upgraded stock-tom manners is building this for us now [got my order in for that one too]
http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1207267&page=6
-upgraded bolt handle and knob [just ordered that from fortis, here is his thread on s hide...;
http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1104086
-also in fortis' thread pete lincoln at roedale is working on new bottom metal; and
-also some folks in australia are making cnc machined aluminum replacement bolt shrouds [i have it now, buy it...its nice work]
http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1104086&page=6
-EGW Tikka T3 Tactical Picatinny Scope Mount, this is significantly longer than the picatinny rail that comes on the gun and allowed me to move the scope forward far enough that i can shoot comfortably prone with the factory stock;
http://egw-guns.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=221

so, lets make life easy and keep them all in one place...

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

Just how better is that trigger. I like the tikka trigger. I havent measured it but I have it set up nice and light plus it is pretty crisp.

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

+1
I just bought the CNC B.S. from HSS in Brisbane and fortis's bolt handle. I might adjust the trigger to 2.5 pounds or less if possible. Manners T4 (I believe) stock looks really nice.

Yes, it looks like the Tikka T3 Tactical (Mine) and the rest have a good start for after market parts. Let's do keep this thread alive!!

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

TT223-please send me the contact [email address] and purchase information for CNC B.S. from HSS. I am in the US in birmingham, alabama and would like to buy one, thanks larry

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

does anyone know a source of t3 mags that has reaonable prices? cdn shows 39.99 but there out of stock so i am not certain this is a credible price/source given elsewhere the price is roughoy twice that...

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

hey kwild, the barnard trigger seems to me to be much smoother then the factory tikka. i had it set at total of 1lb for both stages combined, the second stage is very light and can go as low as 6 ounces. if you have had a good trigger job done you may be all set. i just found the 2 lb trigger out of the box to be a limiting factor in my accuracy at longer distances. you may want to call mac at MT Guns in California at 805 720 7720. he charged $250 for the trigger and $25 for the dremel work to open up the stock a fraction of an inch or so for the new trigger assembly. one thing to mention as the barnard is a match trigger is does not have a safety, that wasnt an issue for me.

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

I actually had my trigger set a little lighter but then had a round go off sooner then expected. I was moving my finger on the trigger and away she went. I was planning to squeeze in a couple seconds anyways so it wasnt I big deal but after that I figured I would raise it slightly. I like it light but I also like to have my finger on the trigger too.

I would sure like to try one before I buy. I have used high end triggers on hand guns before but not rifle.

Me too,can you mail me that email address too or post it up here.

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

kwild, one other thing i like about the barnard trigger is i had it set up so the first stage has enough travel so i avoid the round going off from the light touch on the trigger. i have a ga precision with a jewel that i actually need to adjust as it is set too light for the short pull length of the trigger [i had an early discharge like yours recently, i still hit the target just a bit sooner then i planned to... i can play with the barnard trigger during the first stage without setting it off as the length of the pull is just long enough without being too long.

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

Do you think it was worth the money? Actually do you think it would be worth about $400 as that is probably what I would cost me to get? I do agree that it would be an upgrade just unsure if the upgrade is worth the expense as my trigger feels pretty damn good.

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

kwild, for me yes, i couldnt get the factory trigger the way i wanted it, if you are happy with what you have, probably not, sounds like you have a real good setup now, better to spend the money on a new manners stock!

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

Yes, JJ is right with the web site for Hss. I had to call Fiona to buy the bolt shroud which is on the website-dugh. Just got on line or would have responded much sooner. Good luck!

Jeff

BTW, I am from Auburn/Waverly, Al. I miss the shooting weather and those Southern gals, no doubt!

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

kwild, i suggest you give them a call, i spoke to fiona last night [it was day time there] and ordered it over the phone, she was very nice and helpful, fyi use skype for the call, it cost me only a few cents [much less expensive then a land line call would have been] and the voice quality was very good.

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

help...i watched the youtube, all went well rotating the assembly and removing the shroud and then inserting the tool and rotating the internals, in the perfect postion and went to pull out the bolt knob and it wont budge, its in there like the rock of gibraltar, any suggestions???

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

Did you use Fortis' tool? If not, what you used may not be wide enough to take pressure off the dovetail. If so... ?

I have done it by rotating the shroudless bolt-end in to the angled detent and then inserting a small screwdriver between the tab that sticks up and the anvil that fires the pin. This takes tension off the dovetail and allows the bolt to slip out. Fortis' method is actually simpler when you try to install the new bolt.

I'm confident that this has not helped you at all. I can see why Fortis uploaded the video.

"rotating the shroudless bolt-end in to the angled detent and then inserting a small screwdriver between the tab that sticks up and the anvil that fires the pin"

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

15 bucks to ship, it was $100 total shipped to me in alabama by airmail from australia, took a little over one week to get here, its very nice work, appears to be exactly the same shape/design/dimensions as the factory plastic part but is cnc'd aluminum, now i dont have to worry about the plastic breaking [i have heard that is a common problem],it went right onto the bolt when installed, no fuss at all...

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

Yeah did you? I actually met a guy at the range the other day that lost his bolt shroud. No sure how. Must have broken in half and fallen out.

They are, magnums might be a little different...I think

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

Can someone post pics of the new bolt shroud and handle? I can't find anyting on the HSS website. Also what is the cost of these products in US dollars? Not sure if I read it correctly but I thought I read $100.00 for their bolt shroud which is a bit pricy.

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

hey jeff, including shipping it was actually only $86 US dollars [with shipping it was $100 AU dollars]i am emailing you a picture of the part that fionna at HSS in AU emailed to me. their customer service was excellent, i got the part in a week by airmail. rather then using paypal i called them in australia using skype [under 2 cents a minute] and they took my credit card over the phone. fionna was a pleasure to deal with, ?'s let me know

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

Lowest i've seen for mags is 67$ online, here at Tikka importer they are 85€ (5 rounder .308) i could purchase almost two in US for the price of one in EU

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

Recieved an PM from Tom at Manners stocks, s\they've already started on the MCS-SL prototype hunting stock and hope to have them ready for those interested by the middle of next month.

I'll still have to figure out the bottom metal for it. I don't like the idea of plastic factory replacement for $128.00 from Beretta. I was really hope Pete Lincoln was going to have the alloy factory bottom metal with mags replacement done by now.

I'll ping him and see where they all with it.

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

Let me know if you can raise him. I've pm'd him and emailed him about this and another subject with no reply. It does say on their website something about the company being closed for upgrades or something...

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

Sorry for bieng MIA guys, Me and the wife and kids have been in the UK. Dad has terminal cancer and Mum is in hospital with some infection. That all took priority over the last couple of weeks.

Geoff had a week off also but was back in work last week, so any queries should have been answered providing Geoff had an answer.
Ive about 500 emails to get caught up with. but will get caught up. The workshop is closed til 26th to let me get back on the ball.machines need servicing, and a couple of additions to the equipment need installing, as well as the ever present buroctratic shit i have to deal with, not to mention getting some rifles out the door.
anyone with a query about our after market Tikka parts can email me direct of pm me on here.
Problem with the RCS at the mo lays in the fact that AI delivered the wrong side pannels (again) hence Ive given the nod to our injection molding guys to go ahead with the manufacture of tooling to make our own version. The pannels will be slightly different, but will fit the AICS giving an alternative for the guys who have those. this entails a major investment but is a must to be able to reliably market the product.
The aftermarket T3 mag system is soon to be released.

regards Pete

As well it should Pete. Sorry to hear about family health issues. Not fun at all.

Not upset at all. Figured you'd get back to me at some point. Wasn't pressing, just curiosity at this point since my current project has emptied my piggy bank.

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

And the ol lady was just teasing me about me laughing at people that buy remingtons only to change out the stock, barrel, trigger etc etc etc. I think I might have the most expensive tic tac ever made by next year.

Re: tikka t3 tactical aftermarket upgrade thread

Just got my quote for the work. It is pretty close to what I expected. Little bit more if I let them bed the action too. He has a 1/2 moa guarantee if he supplies the parts and does the bedding so it might be worth it.
