Weird handguard and grip vs the one I had.
OP, having had both, I'd grab a CTR and bravo it unless you're set on a folder.
I’m not sure, that was the only one I found in stock so maybe they changed it up and stopped making the old one? That would explain the inventory issue.
I should have been more clear to OP; The Tikka CTR’s are a great value for a factory rifle. Smooth bolt, accurate and good aftermarket support. The barrel is a little slow but nbd. You can always drop it in a KRG or XLR chassis if you want more adjustability.
The T3X lite is a nice hunting rifle.
If you time your purchases well CTR mags are priced comparable to AICS, and I always thought they fed smoother. Maybe I'm alone in that sentiment.
That is a really interesting suggestion, To be honest, I have never done anything like that before but I would like to explore it more. Can you give me a starting point on Stock Manufactures that would fit Aics mags and possibly a folder? Not for sure I need a folder but my goal would be lite weight and easily portable. I just couldn't get over how smooth and precise the action was. As a side note I do already own a lot of Aics mags (Christensen Arms AICS & Magpul) As I mentioned any ino appreciated. Thank you guys for all the good suggestions.
@artofthepoint, looks like you’re new here and likely somewhat new to precision shooting? These guys at Modern Day Sniper’s have a lot of really good content. They also offer great training if you want to jump your fundamentals and understanding up in a short amount of time.
As for the Tikka; check out Phil’s Modern Day Sniper video series on his Tikka CTR project. I’m linking video 4 which is when he goes from factory stock to a chassis. Like I said, XLR, KRG and several others make chassis to fit a Tikka. KRG alone has several chassis at different price points for them. The Bravo is a relatively lightweight chassis and you can always add a carbon fiber Tikka barrel down the road ( not that you’ll likely shoot out the factory barrel any time soon on a 308!)

Guys, Thank you so much for the feedback and great info, That looks to be a fun project, I would really enjoy. Now I need to find a NIB Tikka T3x CTR in 308 with a 20 inch" , Just Fyi, new to board but not guns, I have been a collector of Class 3 and owned a lot of different types of Firearms. I am not interested in competing, I just like shooting competitively with my buds and a little critter control. I find staying with light weight firearms these days to be the most enjoyable. I prefer to stick with 308 because that is the one caliber I reload. I did mention I have a couple CA rifles one being a MPR and the other being a CA-10-DMR, I have probably got a 1000 rounds through each one and never have been disappointed with the quality or accuracy. That being said, I could tell / see a significant difference in them versus the Tikka. I will start doing my research and figure out the best setup that will work for me. Thank you again for your help!
@artofthepoint A new in box CTR will cost you almost $1000. The "used" gun I linked above has 40 rounds through the barrel (which is nothing in a 308). It's in the caliber you want, is already in a $400 KRG chassis, has an upgraded trigger spring and the upgraded swept bolt knob, similar to an Accuracy International. So you're getting $500-$600 in upgrades for an extra $200. It has all the upgrades I would have recommended in the first place.
We're not here to tell you what to do per se, but most of us have been doing this for a long time, have owned Tikka's and many other precision rifles and have done the hands-on-research. We're telling you this is a good deal based off what you said you wanted, do with it what you will.

This above ^ over Tac A1, the chassis doesn't always work for people. I know a number of people that have nothing back to say about their A1s... but they all sold them because of the chassis for one reason or another (I'm not always paying attention).
Tikka actions are so darn smooth. Great experience.
I just picked up a new stainless Tikka 20” 308 CTR that came with a new McMillan A3 Carbon Edge stock. I mounted a NF NXS 2.5-10x42 on it to keep it light. I can’t wait to get some rounds through it. If it shoots half as good as my 223 CTR, I’ll be happy.
That’s mine, I withdrew the ad. I think I’m going to part with my 308 gasser instead. I like my tikka’s too much over the gas gun to let it go.
Already added an enclosed forend to that tikka 308, and I like it even more now.
Love that stock. Did you buy the stock from McMillian and had it made. Or did it come with the gun?

I purchased it new as a package off Gunbroker for the retail price of each and no wait. I was ringing steel with it at 1000 yards yesterday and it was grouping easily under 0.8moa at 800 yards with 168 Amax in some wind. For being on the lighter side, it is still very fun to shoot. Exactly what I was going for with this build as a precision hunter.
I just bought one (T3X Tact A1 in black with foldable stock) in .308 at 24" (23.7") barrel and am about to receive it Saturday Dec 3rd via my local FFL here in Tennessee. MidwayUSA sold it to me.
