Ok. So I recently purchased a Razor Gen II 4.5-27 and it will be mounted on my T3x Tac A1 (zero MOA factory rail). For those of you that have this rifle/scope combo or similar, what rings/mount do I need. Do I need a 20 MOA mount to go over 1000 yards? This will be my first PRS setup so any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

What caliber your shooting? How far over 1k you wanting to go? That scope has 28.5 MRAD internal adjustment so you should be ok with a neutral base (0 MOA). Assuming you consume half the internal adjustment to get a 100 yard zero, still leaves you 14 mils to work with. Usual .308 loads using 175 smk (FGMM/M118LR/mk316mod0) usually requires 9-10 mils to a grand, for reference.

Thst said, all my precision systems have 20 MOA base and/or mounts as I like to have as much adjustment handy if I need it...

I run a Tikka Tac A1 with a Vortex Razor Gen II as well. Currently running a Vortex mount 1.5-inch and 20MOA. There's barely enough clearance to get the scope caps on but it fits.

You don't need 20 MOA to get to 1,000 yards but I would recommend it in the event you decide to push it out further. Who knows, one day maybe you'll decide to take it out to 1,500 or a mile. I took my Tac A1 out to a mile at a match a few months ago just before quarantine hit and I needed all the elevation I could get.

A friend of mine uses a one-piece qd Bobro mount with 20moa, AR height (1.5”) and it works very well.

I have this same mount on my SR25 /CQBSS and it’s awesome. I’ve been very happy with it and would recommend it if the OP has a full length rail on his rifle.

I am In the same boat. Tikka tac 6.5cm + razor.

Orderded a ARC M10QDL mount. 30moa 40mm height. Perfect

May I ask why you went with a 30MOA vs 20MOA? and with the 1.57 height do your flip caps/covers clear the front rail by an 1/8th inch or better? I'm super new to LR so forgive my ignorance if the questions are "duh" in nature :)

More cant for longer shots and the optical center will be closer for shots 800-1600yds for better clarity. Went with the high mount due to the monolithic top rail. Scope came in mail yesterday and it fits perfect.

Greetings,

Very new to the precision rifle environment, but I've always been interested. Just picked up a Tikka T3x A1 in .308 with a 20" barrel. I know everyone here probably gets this question or questions (sorry in advance).

What is a "good" starting point for optics (quality, warranty, cost) ?
Same question for ammo?

Thanks in advance for any advice for the FNG!

I avoid scopes made in China. I run Nightforce SHV F1 4-14 and Bushnell DMR and LTRS . My Tikka A1 is in 6.5 Creedmoor but I have shot a lot of .308 from a Rem 700 with a 20" barrel . My go to .308 load is a Sierra 175 Match King . I handload but Federal and Black Hills load this bullet

OK, so I would like to ask if anyone has any other suggestions aside from the Spuhr SP-4602 that aren't $400? Anyone else make a mount as solid at a better price point. You don't want to skimp on mounts, but I know someone has to make a comparable product for less. I like the bubble level feature, but I don't need to mount an RMR on a LR rifle. I just ordered a Primary Arms 6-30x56 PLx5 w the 6.5 CM ACSS Apollo reticle for my Tac A1.
I have a Desert Tech mount for the Nightforce on my DTA SRS A1, and that thing has fallen over and landed on the scope in the dirt without losing 0 at 200, so I know the importance of quality mounts. Just trying to maximize benefit to cost. ..........Thanks for any suggestions.

Badger, Nightforce, or ARC are pretty much interchangeable and sacrifice nothing to Spuhr. You’ll find most used mounts between $150-250 depending on what it is.
