Hey guys. received my Timney 510 at work today. Took it out of the package and noticed that there was no keeper pin. Tried to look at some pics online and notice something else different about this 510. there is an extra pin and hole where the photo shows. Now im not sure if this is a 510 or another trigger that was put into a 510 package. Any help would be nice.

Not sure what rifle it is going into. But I ran into an issue where I was told to order a 510-u for my Remington 700 SPS, which requires a long sear. But turns out "U" is not for the Remington, but for a Defiant since the "U" doesn't come with the bolt release. Just a thought.

Im thinking its a new design since everything is captured and there is no need for a slave pin like a jewel trigger. Notice that there is also no nut for the weight adjustment. Just a plastic rod that acts as a stop just like the screw above it.

I received a new Timney 512 trigger (same as 510 with nickel plated trigger) for my 700 SPS last month and there wasn't any keeper pin. The included instructions and the on-line instruction still show a keeper pin, installed with no issues.

Just received a 510, there is a pin right where the OP's pen is pointing to and the same hole below it where the trigger and sear engagement can be seen. Weight adjustment has the locknut and screw. I had specified a long sear, a short sear came on it, hopefully they will send me one, easy to install.

If OP is talking about the keeper pin that used to come in the rear hole holding the sear, this one has no keeper pin (the one that came out when the long pin that holds the bolt release in place was installed). There is now a pin just below that hole that holds the sear, also where it pivots. I seem to remember my old 510 had the keeper pin but no pin just below it. Will look in the morning.

Edit: my old one has the pin, but came with the keeper pins, my new one did not.

It is a permanent tweak to the 510. Do not remove. Install as is.

I ran into this on the last batch of 20 that I got from them. Yes, they had no documentation or notes regarding the change. I was not sure if it stayed or should be removed during installation so contacted Timney Tech for clarification.

Timney advised that it is a tweak to help limit the sear reset due to some custom actions being picky. This is their fix to insure that the triggers work well will all the slight geometry variations from custom action to custom action. I have already installed and delivered 8 rifles with the new 510 variant and they are functioning great.

Terry.
