I am building my first bolt gun (custom GA Precision). I have 2 ARs with 2 stage triggers ( 1 Giessele and 1 LaRue). I like the feel of a two stage. I have heard mixed reviews of timney two stage. GA recommended a Trigger Tech special but they don't have a two stage. So what trigger should I use? I am currently leaning towards the Calvin Elite 2 stage.

I have several timney CE two stage triggers in hunting rifles, match rifles and work rifles. For me they have been 100% reliable and predictable over thousands of rounds in every condition you could imagine. I had a Huber for a while and could never get it adjusted to feel good.... I sent it back to Huber, they set it how I requested and I still didn’t care for it. Sold it shortly after. I’ve shot rifles with Bix n Andy 2 stage and single stage triggers. Nice trigger but not worth 2x what OTM charges for the Timney CE’s.

The nice thing for me is the Timney’s are consistent enough that it’s easy to get multiple triggers all adjusted so they feel damn near identical. I know they may not be the sexiest thing out there but for me they work.

I have one Timney Calvin Elite 2 stage, one Huber 2.5 lbs pull weight 2 stage, and one Bix 'N Andy Tac Sport 2 stage and the Calvin Elite, while useable, is my least favored trigger. The first stage is only 8 ounces to 1.5 lbs., leaving most of the pull weight in the 2nd stage, which is the opposite of what I want in a 2 stage trigger. I want most of the pull weight in the first stage so the 2nd stage is lighter which I think reduces the perceived pull weight and increases my trigger control. My Calvin Elite has a small amount of creep which I couldn't adjust out and it just doesn't feel as crisp as the other two triggers. It's still a very good trigger however, just not as good as the Huber or Bix 'N Andy in my opinion.

Between the Huber and the Bix 'N Andy, I prefer the Bix 'N Andy by a small margin. It's adjustable, which the Huber is not without sending it back to Huber for adjustment, and I think the feel is very slightly superior. However, the difference is small and the Huber is an excellent trigger.

I have shot a friends rifles with Tubb T7T triggers and while they are excellent triggers, I didn't think that they were superior to the Bix 'N Andy or Huber and they cost $349 which is more than the others.

As to price, OTM sells the CE 2 stage trigger for $181.99 while the Bix 'N Andy Tac Sport is $255 from OTM or BulletCentral, and the Huber is $275, which isn't that much of a price difference.
