I've searched and cannot find the answer to my question. If this has been discussed elsewhere, please direct me there. Looking at a timney 510 trigger and have seen a 510U referenced as well. I've looked at the website and don't see any info on the 510 vs 510U. Can someone explain to me what the U is all about.

Thank you in advance.

Not sure of all of the differences, but I originally had a 510 and needed the 510U for my custom Defiance action. For some reason, the standard 510 doesn't function in the Defiance action, so it takes a different model (510U). Don't know any more than that.

The U is the longer sear made for Stillers and aftermarket Remington clones. The firing pin sticks out a little more and hits the primer with more force.

I had an AAC-SD with a 510 in it. No problems at all. I now have a 510 in a Stiller and I get light primer strikes so I am having Timney replace the sear for the longer one. Technically it will soon be a 510-U

Pretty much, but if you get the wrong one, I called Timney directly and they simply said "send the one you have in and we'll send you the correct one". No shipping, no return authorization number, no nonsense. My experience with Timney customer service could NOT have been better. I didn't pay a single penny more to exchange a trigger that I had opened from the package. If you get the wrong one, fear not, they will exchange it. You'll only be out a little time and frustration because it's necessary to change.
