Get a wind meter and carry it with you anywhere you can. Guess the wind speed, then measure it. Also, work on figuring out the direction. Use a piece of flagging tape to help learn that. Do it over and over and over and over.
Also google common wind speed for flags and such. As well as grass and tree indicators. They won’t be perfect, but can help.
Stay on glass while others are shooting. When they miss, pay attention to where the dirt/dust/debris blow to. You’ll be surprised how often it’s not the same as your position.
True your data up so you have a good BC and MV. Then plug in wind speed in 1mph increments until your 100-1000 wind data is as close to .1 (.1 for 100, .2 for 200, .3 for 300, etc etc).
Say that’s 5mph. Every 5mph is that increment.
If it’s 600 yds and 10mph, that’s .6 x 2 (each 5mph) so a 1.2mil wind.
Then practice guessing what value to use. Say it’s a 10mph 1:30 wind. That should be 75%. So, 7.5mph equivalent.
500 yds = .5 for 5mph. Plus another 2.5mph. That’s half of the .5 which is .25
.5 + .25 = .75 wind hold. Round up or down to .7 or .8
