Hey guys
just bought a millermatic 251 mig welder from a fab shop that was closing down.
anyway they managed to almost entirely cover the welder in rust color primer including the front panel that has the controls and digital display. I'm hoping you guys have some tips for me in removing said primer without damaging the display and without removing as much of the original miller blue paint as possible.
thanks

be very very careful with the white labeling, for lack of better terms...
the overspray on the sides of the machine could be broke with thinners and wiped away, then paint polished...
but again the white will smear, with as little as citrus degreaser

I've taken overspray off with magic erasers.
Another option is unused dryer sheets soaked in soapy water.
The white on plastic is super easy to remove as noted above, be careful.

I used simple green, rags and lots of elbow grease to get the same overspray off my truck once. But it was speckled coverage, not a full coat. Less harsh than acetone but might take off the white lettering on the display panel. Glass cleaner and a razor blade gets it off glass well.
