Tired of waiting, could use some advice!

Ok so here's my dilema... Soon after purchasing my rem700sps(but after a ton of reading/searching forums) i decided that i'd go with the B&C M40 medalist. True barrel float, high cheek rest, and it seemed to fit the role of a decent hunter/range stock.

They had a few colors available at the time but being picky i'd decided to go with the out-of-stock Olive w/black web.

Btw, this is the picture that did it for me if it happens to be anyone on this forum

Anyways, it's been close to 8 weeks now and while they have been telling me anyday now for the last 4 weeks, they have no idea when it they'll get it in. In addition i've been looking frequently and none of these stocks in any color have come in since they sold out right after i ordered. Nothing against stocky's, i know it's not their fault but i'm getting tired of waiting want to start looking at other options.

What would you suggest as a comparabile stock that i could change my order too?

I love the look of the A2 but know i'd want to sand down the 2x4 forearm and still it's not quite what i'm interested in. I'd like to stay with something that will at least in my eyes be a good hunter/offhand/multiple posistion shooting stock.

Thanks for any suggestions, and please let me know let me know from your experience w/stocky's if i'm being too impatient. I can live with another week or two wait but if it could be another month or more and i'd rather just get something they have in stock or taking a credit and buying elsewhere.

Btw been looking at this forum for a long time but i think this might actually be my first post so here's a few pics of my baby

Re: Tired of waiting, could use some advice!

I like the B&C A3, maybe they have it in stock. I've read many gripes about Stocky's, my purchase went off flawlessy so of course I don't know.

Re: Tired of waiting, could use some advice!

I love my B&C Tactical Medalist ....... which ever B&C you go with, it's worth the wait. I know they are sold out of pretty much everything due to the holidays ... but so is everybody else. Be patient, or you'll either end up settling for what you don't want. Or paying out the nose for something else.

Re: Tired of waiting, could use some advice!

Hmm...I like it. Cheek rest doesn't look to be as high but could just be the different shape. Of course though, they are backordered in all colors as well!! Is this Bell & Carlson problem or just stocky's?

They supposedly get their B&C stocks in on thursday so if they have nothing by next week i'm going to ask for a refund and go elsewhere...and probably try to get that a3! Thanks for the suggestion guys.

Any other suppliers you guys have had luck with anybody?

That is also what i was hoping to hear...i haven't looked at what's in stock on any other sites, but if that's the case then i will just have to wait. I just hate that until today i haven't shot my sps in weeks because i keep waiting for long thin box to show up on my doorstep!! lol

mnshortdraw,

Was just staring at your gun in your sig and noticed you're from kodiak huh?

I go up to homer 7 or 8 times a year but haven't made it to over there yet...got any good alaska hunting pics?

Re: Tired of waiting, could use some advice!

I suggest you get what you wanted in the first place. I have the B&C M40 stock and its handles perfect for dual purpose hunt/target. Shooting prone, seated or offhand, it shoulders well.

You may try Tactical Works, https://www.tacticalworks.com/Remington-Stocks/ Looks like they have some in stock and about the same price.

I purchased other merchandise there, ordered at midnight, they processed at 0730, shipped that day and I got my merch the next day (then again I live in CO).

Re: Tired of waiting, could use some advice!

Its Bell & Carlson, don't know why, I'd guess production priority goes to the manufacturers that use their products, when I got mine many places I looked while price shopping were out of stock. There are many places that carry them though. Pricing varies dramatically as does shipping.

Where are you located and what're you doing in Homer?

Re: Tired of waiting, could use some advice!

I ordered the B&C tactical 2 from stockys before the new year. They told me it was a 4-6 week back order. They just shipped mine on friday due to arrive at my house on money. Which will be immediately sent back you to cdi to inlet their dbm. So just be patient I'm sure they will send it out asap when they get it. They explained to me on the phone that b&c sends them like 20 stocks at a time and they fill orders as fast as they can.

Re: Tired of waiting, could use some advice!

Good news!!! Just checked my email today and they stock shipped out yesterday! Feel stupid for complaining but you all know the feeling when you're waiting on a new toy haha. Can't wait to see if i can cut down on my groups now with a true floated barrel...

Been getting 3/4-MOA 3 shot groups at 100 & 200 yds, but my 5 shot groups are more like 1.5" at a hundred, and 2.5 at 200. Probably more...or definitely my shooting i should say, but still interested to see the diffence! ...not as consistent of a bipod w/rear bag and there is a lot more weight on the barrel with that setup.

Here's a target from yesterday with 168 gr Fed Match King & 155 gr Hornady TAP FPD. Loving the Hornady 155'ers btw, hit a plate at 535 (found at correct distance after) while my rangefinder told way less...flatter trajectory helped i think.

I'm currently in Missouri right now but florida for the last 5 years and be back soon. Go up to homer on business and get to play a little too.

...I hear you got a few inches of snow up there recently?

Thanks for the advice. The vertical string/stacking that you noted is actually better on these than some groups that i've had (not all but ocasionally it happens). I've had a few that were in a straight vertical line... I changed my technique this last time a little cuz i noticed that i wasn't shooting with the gun at perfect rest even on bags, but was physically holding the rifle where it need to be... when i'd losen up the cross-hairs would fall to the natural position on the bag (using a fron & rear bag). These might have been before i changed it up tho cuz i moved to 200 have these groups.

I work on that next time.
