You can't be tactical without paint. Lol

The first rifle I painted was because it was beat up. Since then, I paint all of my rifles. Kind of a way to really make it mine. Using krylon, it isn't anything permanent and isn't hard to get off. When I need to strip something, I use rustoleum graffiti remover. It's very mild and works pretty well, although multiple coats do need a little bit of elbow grease.

I paint everything. Rifle, scope, mount, light, it all gets sprayed. Ive also found that I'm much less conscious of dings and stuff. It only adds to the character.

If you are going to cerakote it , yeah go for it. I'm not a fan of rattle can unless it's some beat up truck/hunting gun. Otherwise, I don't get why thats ever done honestly, but if you like it, then go for it

If you're gonna do Cerakote, let someone that knows what they're doing do the job. Putting on Cerkote ain't like putting on paint.

Truth be told I'd already painted the rifle when I posted yesterday and with the overwhelming majority in favor of a little rattlecan spritz how could I ignore that haha? The responses were amusing though, almost like being back in my old platoon, thanks for that. Sadly, no pastels, sprinkles, or Cerakote was involved in yesterday's shenanigans but I'm satisfied with the end result. My Mock 12 Modoné in Moolticam™:

Base layer:
Rustoleum Ultra Matte Down to Earth
Rustoleum Satin Nutmeg

Intermediate Layer:
Rustoleum Camo Deep Forest Green
Rustoleum Camo Army Green

Top Layer:
Rustoleum Satin Fossil
Rustoleum Camo Earth Brown

I used a stencil that I basically copied from Primary Arms and cut it out on a manila folder, then just held it up to the gun. The bigger open areas are used with the greens and the smaller ones are for the Earth Brown and Fossil colors. As per usual the prep work took longer than the actual painting did and while everything was drying I modified the Switchview lever, chopping it down a bit to make it more low pro.
