To Protect the Gophers from the Plauge or the Other Way Around

I’m a hay farmer and gophers and ground squirrels can all die as far as I’m concerned I cover 11,000 acres and the cost is roughly 200k a year from dirt abrasions on my equipment. That’s a lot of TT Nightforce and ZCO optics we’re talking here haha!!

you could always have a hunt on your property invite others to help shoot them up , can't think of many shooters that would pass up the opportunity to shoot at a small target like a gopher to try there skills or lack of skills out . 11,000 acres that could be fun .

It would take a lot of shooters to even put a dent in them on some spots of these places, 5 of my shooting buddy’s and I each had 1k 22 rounds apiece and shot for 4 hours straight and never moved our vehicles. There is that many ground squirrels. The gophers we can manage with verminators but ground squirrels it takes cabbage and poison done by hand to really make a dent in them. Winnemucca farms had a group of people come down from Oregon with cabbage poisoning and it flat wiped the ground squirrels out but it’s expensive.

Where do you farm? We’ve had good luck with poison cabbage for squirrels and pho’s toxin for gophers. Drowning squirrels is also an option. It’s too time consuming to shoot them all, and you never get them all but it’s the best way to write off new rifles!

minks for hire online has to be cheaper than paying for the repairs I still say charge a 5.00 all you can shoot all day and shooters will come . like flocks of locust which are pretty taste when pan fried with a little butter , like popcorn with legs . lol

Nice everyone is switching to the Massey inline balers and I can’t stand the way the inline bales look vs a freeman 370 sidefeed baler are you running 14x21 chambers or 15x22? I imagine 16x22 would be to heavy of a bale

15” chambers. I like the look of a Freeman stack. Sure am jealous of the Massey pickup in orchardgrass. Can’t seem to figure how to pay for 5 of them though. This equipment is just getting too expensive. Do you mess with any small bales? What balers do you run

No we’re all 340 and 340 plus new holland big balers, carter Ag is really trying to push the Massey balers up here but the new Holland’s make such a beautiful bale I’ll never make that switch, and it’s hard to want to make a switch when I’ve put 30k bales through some of my plus balers and done nothing but sharpen knives
