Today's MARS match kicked my rear end!

Everyone can say, "I beat a Vudoo today!" LOL, last place by one point. I made several mistakes, shot the wrong target a couple times, moved before I was supposed to once...and that damn 170 yard KYL. Room for improvement: CHECK! Hehe

it happens

Match before last we had a KYL at 60-some odd yards, then another 'KYL' at about the same range as yours. 1 shot per target. Forget how few of them I hit. Probably timed out on the 2nd set

I had a great time. Looking forward the next one already!
Amazing how the drive to improve gets you going back no matter how good or bad you shot ain't it?

I'm fixin to buy a suppressor so I can practice in the yard behind the barn. Figure shooting off even improvised props is better than shooting off the bench at the 'official' range

Dry fire has its place..and it helps..also when your practicing, I found I learned a lot more practicing on paper..

I've got a Dead Air Mask in jail, hope it gets paroled soon. My Vudoo isn't threaded, but I have several other .22lr rifles and pistols that are. Plan to use it mostly for squirrel hunting.
I've got an impact area behind the house that's the same size or bigger than the range QSC hosts MARS matches on. ...but my neighbors are jackholes so a suppressor is a necessity

Great choice! I'm waiting on mask #2 to get out of jail. The first has lived almost constantly on my CZ457 and has been the untimely demise of many a tree rat. Stop eating my siding ya little bastards!!!

I know y'all are buddies and Tony is a great shooter but, MD shouldn't shoot their own matches for score!! You know good and well if you write the COF set the targets up and it is a memory COF with out of order targets it is a HUGE competitive advantage...there is no arguing that!!!

Just the truth🤔
I’ll let you write my next match and come shoot it. Let me know how much an advantage you get. I’m below 50% over the years. I’ve even lost points on not following the COF I wrote……. Give it a try and then cast some stones.
I have little respect for any man willing to take public pot shots at another who is actively doing what 99% of other people aren’t willing to do…… we’re all from the land of broken toys and this world is too small to not figure out how to lift each other up rather than the opposite.

Congrats on the win last weekend Lou! It was a fun COF, great people, and challenging. Hopefully I'll start to suck less...soon. Hehe.

Stick with it. Work on fixing your biggest weaknesses, one at a time. As you get things right and learn efficiency the stages will get easier and your scores will come up. Jon Solinsky was offering some Rimfire PRS classes which have really helped a lot of MARS shooters. Maybe reach out to him and see when his next one is. Distinguished Tactical is his training company.

TODAY's MARS match kicked my rear end again. Decently sized targets. NO wind. You'd think conditions were perfect for lots of hits.

...but NOooo!

I haven't been able to practice positional shooting in a while and it showed. Miss. Miss. Miss. Miss s'more. Most of those misses were from me not building stable positions. My reticle was all over the place. Some of the longer stages I was having ballistic app problems. As in Strelok wasn't working. Trying another of the apps I DLed. it took me a while to figure out how to change the zero distance in the app. Trying to shoot 125/146/195 yard targets off the tips of 4x4s with the wrong numbers isn't an easy thing. Doing them out of order (my fault) makes things harder.

I tried slowing down and getting hits, but I wasn't getting the hits when the buzzer went off for the end of my 90sec. Stuck around afterwards and with time to get steady, I could make most of the shots I was taking. Need more practice off the clock to build positions before rushing thru stages.

Aah well. I'm learning. One of these days I'll figure this stuff out, but it wasn't today!
