I understand that. It was more of a rhetorical question/statement.
There shouldn't be a connection between your phone number and your license plate. Why even open it? Just swipe it away or report as spam. Someone mentioned that they were in a rental car in Florida and started getting them. Connecting the dots says that some app on their phone is tracking them. Possibly tic toc or some other like photos. Many apps have tracking and it should be turned off so this crap doesn't happen.
Id bet here is someone inside involved. My supervisor and I are administration for our expanses. They seldom get used. I used mine locally a couple times without any texts. He used his twice on the express lanes in northern Va and we both got texts a day or two later.

As I remember, they had toll booths about every 40 or 50 miles. And the toll was fifty cents, or seventy-five cents. So, if you had correct change you could just go through the correct change booth, throw in your money in the machines basket, the machine counted it quickly and raised the gate.
Keep in mind, this was 2016. old mama sequestered a large group of officers out of the USAF that year after he did not get his way on a tax bill. Cost you and me millions because many of these officers were trained professionals. They had to be replaced with new men and a large part of the group got employment with private contractors doing essentially the same tasks they did when they were not flying. Of course the cost went up and the taxpayers paid. Our son was part of that group and left the Air Force in 2016. Had a job doing mission planning the day he was discharged. When not flying in the Air Force, guess what he did (at less cost to you and me)……Mission Planning.
Worst case. A navigator had applied for pilot training and was accepted. He went through the entire training, was certified to take over the right seat (copilot) of a KC135. As he arrived at his duty station, to start his career as a pilot, he was sequestered and discharged. DO YOU REALIZE HOW MUCH IT COSTS TO TRAIN A PILOT!!!!

The cost to train a KC135 pilot is right at 1.2 MILLION dollars. Which is a bargain compared to an F-35 pilot ($12,000,000.00) or an F-22 pilot (($15,000,000.00) Old mama kicked em out like they were pikers. Waht a complete total ass. He makes millions off his being President and we foot the bill.
Presidents should be allowed to earn more than 50% of their approval rating. OK their approval rating times 100. 50% = $5000.00. Give them appreciation of how much shit they put us taxpayers through.
