I bet he had one hell of a bruise even with the vest. That 44 mag punches hard. Good for the cop.

We had a Det here, when I was a rookie, who took a 12G slug to the chest from about 15ft. His IIIa vest stopped it but it broke several of his ribs, his entire torso was covered in a giant bruise. He was back on duty a few weeks later. It probably helped that he was 6'-4" and easily 250#.
