Took the NFL long enough....

USA Today says it was not done for patriotism but to protect the brand. I say it's way too late to protect the brand. The brand was tarnished and taken to the brink by the actions of the players both on field and off. Illegal drugs, murder, assault, you name it all done by those who many young people Idolize, if only because they are rich and famous. The total disrespect given to our flag was merely the last straw. I have not watch a single down of NFL in four years. That includes the Stupid Bowl!

Its all about trying to get back the ratings. $$$ is still there God, and driving force. This shit stain sport took a big nose dive with me 10 years ago. Just a watered down product that once was Americas favorite pastime.

Bullshit, hypocritical business decision. If they want to focus on football like Jones says, cut out the anthem, stop the fucking prayers, cut out the genuflection to veterans before every game.

Or, you know, don’t cut any of it. Singling this protest out is shit.

Nope, they didn't fix anything. If anything they legitimized the player's protests. Allowing them to stay in the locker room is paramount to standing AWAY from the flag. In my opinion, allowing them to stay in the locker room is just as bad, if not worse, than allowing them to kneel. The fans should leave if the players aren't on the sidelines, standing, when the National Anthem is played.

Pitiful to believe that the NFL owners thinks this will win back the fans.

Sad, sad indeed....

They are only doing this because their viewership has tanked.... not because they feel it’s rogt

Fuck them, hope all the players get CTE and the owners kill themselves when the league collapses

The NFL realized it was costing them LOTS of fans, and thereby money. As mentioned above, many people who used to be fans resent how long it took the league to wise up, and a high proportion of those fans simply won't be back. I think the NFL's delay in dealing with the issue has permanently hurt them....and so it should be.

Bunch of Liberalistic assholes. Staying in the locker room is nothing more than a different form of bein disrespectful to the flag and country.

I’ll keep watchin my Hockey, thank you!!

Damn right. Game 7 tonight between the Washington and Tampa Bay. Winner plays Vegas in the Stanly Cup finals.

Our local Jr. League hockey team won the Robinson Cup last week.

Nothing but a bunch of uneducated, no morals, wife beating, drug slinging, felons.

(No Disrespect Intended @MtnCreek )

They still won't get it. One things for certain, the crime rates in their respective cities will all of a suddenly begin skyrocketing. lmfao

Couldn't care less what they do during the national anthem. They can do cartwheels while wearing tutus for all I care because I don't watch the NFL. Remember folks, we are talking about GROWN MEN playing a children's game and getting paid millions to do so. Like the old saying goes, "children should be seen and not heard". Well, in this case they shouldn't be either!

I'm not here in this thread, for the national felon league. I'm here for the 'local' entertainment value.

As such, whilst I totally agree that it's "way too late", I'll add that anyone not on the field during the Anthem, doesn't play. You wanna stay in the locker room, fine. Be there for the whole game, watch it on the monitors.

When it was a privalege to play, long ago,,, it was worth something. It ain't now, so it isn't.

And yeah, our Jet's just got beat-out by the Golden Knights so as far as we're concerned, the NHL is over now too. Damn steroids.

:D

As someone who had season tickets for 15 years and hasn't watched a game since the first kneeling, this won't do shit. Everyone sees right through it. Thankfully there is college football and it's on Saturday so no Monday hangovers from watching football!

Being that I have lived in New England most of my life, I was always a die hard Pats fan but now Kraft can suck my one inch dick
I think you are the first ex pats fan I've ever heard of. College in new england put a bad taste in my mouth with that fucking team. Worst obnoxious fans I've ever seen

i posted this yesterday on another site.

The 32 clubs of the NFL and it’s illustrious spineless leader today released a statement regarding how it’s very highly compensated athletes are to act when the national anthem is played and the U.S. Flag is presented. To paraphrase the new rules .... if a player is on the field they must stand or the club can be fined, if they do not want to stand they can stay in the tunnel or locker room. My decision as a veteran a patriot and a proud American was made over a year ago regarding my position on what I see as a high level of disrespect for our great nation, the flag which many a good American Soldier was laid to rest under, and words so meticulously penned by Francis Scott Key regarding said flag and the specific battle that he observed and objectified the flag as the resolve and character of a developing and growing nation. I 100% believe in all of our constitutional rights including the 1st amendment freedom of speech and those that use kneeling as their speech do have that right, but I have a hard time thinking that a professional athlete worth millions, that have instant access to any media outlet 24/7 and has a voice that should be respected in the communities from where they come from should have a better more effective way of creating real social change. I do not see today’s rule release as anything other than the NFL feeling a pocketbook hit of alienating a lot of the true blue (red) fans and making a appeasement move that should not satisfy anyone.

I'm really not an ex-Pats fan as much as I am an ex-NFL fan.

If you think the fans are hardcore at a Pats game, try a Bruins game. I am a lifelong hockey addict being that I played for 26 years. We are not obnoxious, just fervent

These owners won't pay the fines. They'll raises prices at the concessions stands. They probably only have to raise prices about a penny an item to pay for any and all fines. I wanted to think that this was over, but I guess not. I'm done. I won't be taking a bite of that bileburger, thanks but no thanks NFL.
