Re: Top 12 Country Songs

I think the Williams family is a great study in country music. The songs are the same - crying in your beer blues, a simple rythm, nothing in the chorus over 4 syllables, and a 3 piece band. The more things change the more they stay the same. Notice how Hank 3 sounds like Hank 1 but sings about problems more like that of Hank2?

Good luck

Re: Top 12 Country Songs

It was just a funny list, and I have been a Coe fan for some time. It sure was nice of Steve Goodman to make that song right for him...

In terms of real favorites, the list would be too long.

The Ride ranks up there though. As does Hank's "Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound..."

Re: Top 12 Country Songs

I didn't know there was a Hank3.
Not a big fan of country. My folks used to force us to watch Hee Haw. Fucking Buck Owens and Grandpa Jones can rot in Hell.

I'm not bitter.

Re: Top 12 Country Songs

Sad to hear it Tucker, sad to hear it. Don't you remember the large chests of those smart girls just laying around behind the shed with a an old Bloodhound. Didn't you and your friends try to imitate the Buck Owens chuckle? It was a classic back when the total options on tv numbered at 3 channels...

Souther Virninia. Sa-Lute.

Bitter or not, it's good you chose not to further blaspheme by insuting the great Roy Clark.

Any of ya'll remember the luscious Barbie Benton???

Re: Top 12 Country Songs

I almost hunted with Roy one day.
Instead, he ended up in one pit blind and I in the other. Luck of the draw, I suppose.
Roy and those juggy girls were the only things on that show worth watching.
Although Junior had his moments.
