I want to put together a good rig. 3 idea:
Savage predator 6.5 in xlr
Savage hs 308 prob change to chassis later
Rem 700 308 AAC in ax chassis

Would like a tactical style rifle but I plan to shoot some 600 fclass maybe 1000 down the road if. My skill gets good enough. Just want to compete to better my skills not to compete with fclass guns with a lesser gun

I love the ax chassis an the feel of a rem but I am worried I won't get the accuracy of the savage without spending a lot of money . The creedmoor is my top choice for its ballistics but the barrel looks more tapered wonder how that will affect it . Any opinions?

Get a used Rem700 or Savage 10 in 308win, install it in the chassis of your choice.

Install good glass in quality mounting hardware, and you're off to the races.

Have fun.

By the way, I'm not a chassis guy, so were it me, I'd buy a Savage 12LRP in 260 or 6.5creed, and call it a day.

I am, sort of, in the same boat. Can't decide between building my next rifle on a Savage or Remmy but, leaning towards a custom Remmy for obvious reasons. I will say that my current rifles, Savages in .260 LRP & .308 PC, have needed no extra cash to get them to shoot 1/2". I've seen stock Remmy's shoot just as good out of the box, but the chances of a "good" shooter seem to be less likely then the Savages. YMMV.

My .260 is in a HS and, like I said, it shoots. It will be getting a new XLR Carbon chassis in a few weeks, but I have no complaints with that stock. In the end, your cheapest option is the Savage 308, but the 6.5CM will provide better ballistics and will be roughly the same cost as the Remmy when you change to the chassis on either. I'd just go with a 6.5CM LRP from Savage. It comes in a decent stock and then you can change to a chassis when you're ready.

I have a 10FP in .308 and a .243 Predator Max-1. If it were me, given those choices, I would go with the 6.5 Predator in XLR chassis. You'll save a slight bit of weight in the Predator model over some of the other "tactical" rifles, but it's by no means a "light" hunting rifle. My first thought was the LRP, too, until I saw your next post! But, the Predator rifles are dead nuts accurate and I wouldn't even hesitate to get another one, especially in a 6.5/.260.

This is a good suggestion. Another option would be to a look at the options Russel from Scout Supply Company (SSC) is selling is see if that interests you. You could also buy a Rem 700 AAC-SD and drop it into the chassis of your choice.
