That is also changing, as you’ll notice when driving through rural areas. You’ll see the old Florida being quietly converted into huge subdivisions everywhere. I just drove through rural central Florida and barely saw any rural area that has escaped it so far.

in fact,i live in semi rural no.cent. FL and you are correct. the smaller towns are getting overbuilt. the roads are a stream of dump trucks and heavy equipment trucks. traffic even in small towns is way up over last 5 years. traffic in cities and on I75 and I 95 is hideous. not as bad as i hear re atlanta,but getting there. traffic and crowding in smaller towns is often as bad as miami due to 2 lane roads,way overbuilding and unplanned or uncontrolled growth.

We subsidize their insurance rates so that they can rebuild in the dunes areas that if there would actually help protect from the erosion by becoming natural sandbars to reduce large wave and storm surge impact. We then pay to “restore” their almost private beaches with our taxes. And just to help things along, we spend our hard earned dollars to play in their backyards and keep the local economies high enough to falsely maintain real estate prices on their investments.

Yeah, lots of highway work on US 17 north and south of Fort Meade. Not much out there and they're adding turn lanes for what look like lightly traveled county roads. Guess they know something and ain't telling.
