Going to Texas to do a little hog hunting and really want to bring my suppressor with me. As long as I have my paperwork with me I should be okay, correct? Just store my suppressor in the case with the rifle and good to go?

Just flew from Denver to Las Vegas with a suppressor in the rifle case. TSA will probably open up the gun case and look inside. Keep a copy of your paperwork with the suppressor in the case and a backup copy with you and you'll be fine.

1. why don't you ship it over night to your destination and keep it up when you get there ?

2. If you have to travel with a suppressor, you have to Bring copies of your stamps and make sure your destination state is suppressor friendly.

Texas is very suppressor-friendly.
Throw it in the rifle case, a copy of the form4 (or whatever) in the case and another on your person, you will be fine.
If you are hunting for a trophy, a "one and done", over a feeder or in a field with good visibility works well. If hunting for numbers, night vision is the way to go.
Even suppressed, piggies don't usually stick around when the shooting starts. That said, take out the alpha sow and they will come back for her in a bit, so long as you are patient, and not spreading sound and scent in the area.
Good luck.
And God bless Texas.

I think we are doing this for a numbers type deal...I went down there 15 years ago and I was blown away by how many hogs we saw. We shot a bunch of them. I am thinking of renting some thermal imaging stuff in Austin when I get down there, sound like that technology has come a looong way since I did it 15 years ago. I worked in Austin for about 10 months when I was in my early 30's, it was one of the greatest timeframes of my life. I was a single dude back then and being from "Mantana" I was pleasantly surprised by the chick to dude ration in Austin. It was there that I discovered that the whole chick thing is really just a numbers game and my average looks and dad bod could still do pretty good. Yeah, Texas is probably one of my favorite states, right up there in the top 3.

If it's legal in your home state and destination state, than you legally pass through states like Illinois where they are not legal. I mention Illinois as I travel through there from the midwest to my hunting grounds in Colorado. You're generally not allowed to deviate from a straight path thru, you can stop for food/gas/hotel, but you can't take the scenic route for example, and stop by your old gf's house. I mention this as there have been people flying with firearms when a plane has had a mechanical and made an unfortunate nightly layover in a state like New Jersey or New York. While it wasn't the owners intention to stop in that state, it became a problem when they claimed their checked baggage.

They are very destructive - and very mean - and quite dangerous when cornered or injured. And that applies to hogs and crazy Austin bitches alike.

There are several companies that rent NV gear, and the specific setup that works best is highly dependent on how you hunt and with what.

Happy hunting.
