TRG-22: shortening barrel to 22" or 20"

Anyone shorten their TRG-22 to 22" or 20"? If you have how did it affect velocity and the max range you can shoot at?

I'm going tohave the end of muzzle cut and have it threaded in SAE so I can attach my suppressor to it. Suppressor is 9.3" long.

I have 2 TRG22's, one 20" and one 26". Both have folders. I shoot the 20" much more. Its especially more manageable with the suppressor attached, and if you have a can, why would you want to shoot any other way than suppressed.

I shortened my trg 22 .260 down to 21" and lost maybe 150 fps. Not really a significant change within 1000 yds, just dial up to compensate. I dont have a can on it yet but it is lighter and better handling for hunting.

Why 20"? Why not just cut it to 18"? Go all the way?

I cut a 700 24" down to 20" and since then have always wished I had just committed to a true short build.

I had mine cut to 22" and added a Badger Thruster brake. Average velocities as follows:

FGMM 168gr - 2640
Applied Ballistics 175gr OTM - 2568
Setpoint Ammo Custom - 2585
(Berger 175gr OTM / Lapua / 210M / 44gr Varget / 2.8")

That's why smart people buy their TRG 22 with factory 20" barrel!! No cutting no mess!! and they come ready for your can !! Now if we were talking about a 42 338 lapua then that would be something totally different....

I'd go 20 because with the suppressor and a 20in bbl then your already almost 30in of barrel, and with the 22 its basically 32.

That's why there's no 20in TRGs available, or at least very hard to find. I just changed my order to a 26in last week, because I was tired of waiting. Very excited though!
