Been meaning to do that. Definitely the best write up I have seen on that mod....
Actually thinking of having some custom replacement legs for the TRG bipod machined so they can take Atlas feet....so I can use my Hawk Hill claws on it too. Really love that bipod- worth putting some effort into it.

I am a long time TRG fan and shooter. I think the TRG bipod is one of the best I have ever shot, better than my Atlas bipods. IMO the free float of it is one of the best features, personally I don’t think this mod is necessary. Because when you load the TRG bipod (like the factory AI bipod) it locks up very solid and does so at whatever angle or position you have it in.
But of course to each his own, different strokes for different folks. So I did not come on here to contradict the modification, I think it’s great if that’s your thing. The reason I am posting is in regards to TRG bipod modifications but on the line of adapting it to use an AI spigot. I would give my left nut to be able to run a TRG bipod on my AT.
You obviously like the bipod and research modifications, have you ever seen any mod to use an AI spigot? I know there is a Titanium copy made in Europe that uses the spigot, but I just have a hard time with that much $. Although I have almost ordered one several times...

As much as I like the free float for shooting, I dont like it for transport. Having the bipod rattle around is actually what I dont like, No issues with it when it actually comes to shooting!
Since everyone here knows all about the Sako bipod.... how would one go about mounting it to a rifle other than a TRG? In particular, an XLR Evo
Not sure on the XLR but one of the nice things about the KRG stocks and chassis is they accept the Sako bipod. I've heard rumors there is an adapter for it available in Europe to mount it to a versapod type spigot but havent done the research to track one down. I also heard it was epxensive.

Thanks for the info all! I ended up ordering a Phoenix top mounted bipod. Won’t derail this thread any further.
I have been using TRG bipod for a long time, 15+ years or so, liking it as it is. But having a small friction eases down rifle- tilt kind of freezes on its position where you leave it after fine-position for aiming is done. Re-alinement of tilt still requires minimal effort with mod.. so I would say that considering required cost and effort its easily worth trying before jumping into conclusions.
100% free-floating hinge is also main source of rattle, so this basically makes it disappear too.
