TRG Mag falling out during recoil

As the title states the magazine on my TRG keeps falling out during recoil. The rifle is a .338 and it only happens when the mag has four or more rounds it it it should also be noted that the rifle has over 1300 rds through it. I should also state that when the mag has only three rounds it it the problem doesn't manifest itself. Im curious if any on here have experienced this phenomena. Additionally I understand that the aluminum piece in front of the mag controls tension, and while I was at the range i messed around with its placement to see if i could alleviate the issue, it had no effect. Therefore i am inclined to think that the mag release catch spring may be at fault but am not entirely sure. I appreciate any input and would like to know if their are any others that have experienced this problem.

If the aluminum block in front of the mag is adjusted properly and the back of the mag itself is flat and not deformed, then I would think the only thing left is the Mag release spring. If you have a trigger pull gauge, you could test it. My mag drops free at about 5-1/2 lbs.

Sounds like solid info, I would say the same thing. I would bet you would not have this problem with a TRG22 (less recoil).

You can also adjust the forend itself to provide a bit of magwell tension. The mag catch spring is right on the border of being too weak. Some shooters who installed our Catch Extender were having that issue just due to the added weight of a tiny aluminum bar. It increased the static inertia just enough so that as the rifle moved under recoil, the mag catch stayed in one spot, releasing the mag. Now we found a solution with a small spring that goes inside the standard spring, similar to how an AR extractor has two springs, it strengthens the setup noticeably.

Thanks for the input guys I appreciate it. Justin I am running one of your company's mag release catches and I bet I'm experiencing what the others you mentioned were. If you don't mind me asking where did you source a secondary spring. I went ahead and cut down a take down pin detent spring for an ar and that in addition to the primary factory spring seems to have increased the force needed to release the mag.
