Triad AI Mag Pouch Family update

Re: Triad AI Mag Pouch Family update

Hey guys, more good news. Eagle hit me again off of the same PO from last year. I have added even more mag pouches to the online inventory. If you have been waiting, jump on it.

Re: Triad AI Mag Pouch Family update

The question of a divider between the mags in the double pouches has come up again. The first run of the AICS double pouch had a divider to separate the two mags. I got back the following feedback:

1. The divider made it difficult to get the second mag into the pouch because they would hang up.
2. Because the AI floorplates are so wide, they still rub on each other each other in that area.
3. Lots of people cut the dividers out.

Based on this feedback from Snipers Hide members, the divider was removed from further runs of the double AICS pouch and was not included in the design of the double 300/338 pouch either.

Some broken links have been fixed in this thread as well.

Re: Triad AI Mag Pouch Family update

It was difficult to get in because the pouches were too tight to begin with... If the pouch was designed properly it would be no different than a single mag pouch. The divider needs to have some width to it to prevent the floor plates from contacting each other

Re: Triad AI Mag Pouch Family update

I ordered a pouch for two AI mags. They are too tight to hold the magazines well. Yes, they fit. Barely. But if you pull one out the other wants to come with it. It's almost impossible to put an empty back in the pouch without a lot of fiddling with them.

I'd think about making the mag pocket about 3/4-half the height with a divider. Make sure each compartment leaves lots of wiggle room for the mags. The top cover can then fold over to hold the mags in place but the magazines will extend enough to be grabbed quickly or put away when empty either side up.

The pouches were tight to begin with, I agree and the pattern was changed. That said, they need to be tight to some degree so a single mag can be retained. I tried to change the divider to a thicker material, but it had to be over 1/4 of an inch thick to prevent the floorplates from rubbing. That kind of thickness started causing other problems. Getting mags back into the pouch fast was not one of the higher ranking goals for the pouch. The general consensus from the field was to drop the divider all together and move on.

If you have a pouch that is too tight to get mags into, please reach me via email with your information.

Re: Triad AI Mag Pouch Family update

My experience with the Triad pouches were a year or two ago... whenever they first came out... i was just suggesting a possible fix... I realize putting the mag back in the pouch was not a priority... just like holstering a weapon there is no hurry to it... but it was such a pia with 2 mags back in the day i stopped trying... everything is well now ive read and that is great.

Right now I run tac tailor 7.62 single stack mags... put some foam padding in the bottom for propper height and with the molle on the outside of the pouch i can stack two if i wanted to... bungie cord holds them well and they go in and out easily.

not trying to shit on anyones product... was just give feed back... ive used a lot of nylon in the last 3 or 4 years... i know what works for me and what I would want in a AICS pouch

Re: Triad AI Mag Pouch Family update

Was looking for mag pouches for my Sako TRG-22 and called Steve asking if the single AI/AW pouch would work on the TRG-22. He didn't know, so I took a chance and ordered 4 of them.

Got here the very next day...and they fit perfectly!

These mags are double stack like the AW, but single center feed like the AI, so the best of both worlds (except the price, which is more than an AI and AW together!!).

I say this means Action Carried and lets make this happen.

Re: Triad AI Mag Pouch Family update

FYI, the prototype for the pouch to hold 2 x AICS 5 round magazines has been approved. Im told they will arrive in bulk in 8 weeks.....

I'll check on the 223 fit.

Tight fit, but yes they fit. I had problems getting them out of the pouch quickly. They sit down below the top of the pouch, so you have to push them up from the bottom to get them out

Re: Triad AI Mag Pouch Family update

here are two Alpha mags in a double 10 round AI mag Triad pouch
(They dont stick up above the fabric... but with a small folded piece of cardboard or foam in the bottom, they stick up just enough for easy removal

Heres an Alpha mag in a triad single 5 round AI pouch
(the velcro barely grabs, but other than that its a great fit. I will most likely use these)

Re: Triad AI Mag Pouch Family update

When you say barely grabs, you mean without the fastex buckle, it's not going to stay closed, or it's just a little close for comfort?

Are there any plans on updating these pouches to accommodate Alpha mags a little better?

Re: Triad AI Mag Pouch Family update

I would say the velcro grabs about 1/4". When I unbuckle it, the velcro still stays attached. It will work, but I will most likely always attach the buckle when I use if for competitions.

But, if you were looking to improve it. I would say another 3/4" of velcro material and it would be perfect.
