I've had an Accuracy International AT rifle for about six months and was pretty content with the 20" .308 barrel. But like a lot of folks on here I'm fascinated by the accuracy claims and long range shooting performed by these 6.5mm wonders. So while patrolling the Hide I came across the Mile High Shooting thread for used demo barrels. Low and behold there was a .260 Bartlein 5r on the list as “new and unfired” for $450.00. Salivation begins but maturity overcomes and I recall how incredibly well the .308 shoots and talk myself out of it.

Now I really like Mike and David and the other folks at Mile High they are really good honest people who will break their backs to provide whatever you need. But they just don’t play fair!

Last Saturday, while on patrol I found myself back on the Mile High demo barrel page just knowing those barrels would be gone and right there staring me in the face was that same .260 Bartlein only now those scoundrels, sensing my weakness, had lowered the price to $350.00. WHAT! I can't even buy a Bartlein 5r blank for less than $345.00. Folks this is clearly an unfair sales tactic and was akin to draggin a hundred dollar bill through a trailer court. I’m ashamed to tell you I jumped all over it. But I sure don’t regret it ?

Thanks again Mile High you guys rock

I came across the same problem with a .260 barrel from them for my AXMC. I did not get it for $350. I think I paid around $450 for mine. At first I talked myself out of it because it was black and I have an tan AXMC.

I knew it! I just knew it! We have some kind of conspiracy going on here! They got me on the old bait and switch thing, I think? You know they put it out there for $450 and then when I go to buy it BAM they make me pay $350. Yeah, I think they got me this time.

That’s just wrong I tell'ya. Don’t accept being taken advantage of like that. You can turn the tables on those charlatans by selling the barrel to me for $300.00. That’ll show’em!

How can we allow this type of shenanigans to go on??? I went in once to buy a Suppressor cover and I damn near bought a beautiful Colt Python!!!! Those guys are tricky!!! Good thing I didn’t want to sleep in my truck for three months.... I got outta there fast!!!

UPDATE: Well now that I'm stuck with this barrel I thought I might as well shoot it. So I went to the loading room and made up some rounds to see if this barrel was any good. I've never owned a .260 before so I got on the Hide under reloading and found one. Don't try this at home. I saw a load using only 40.5 grains of IMR 4350 so I made some of those and used them to zero the scope. They did OK 10 of them around an inch or so. Then I saw another one with 43.5 IMR 4350 with a 140g Hornady ELD and loaded three of them. I think I'm screwed...these three just barely even touch each other on the target. That red dot is a half inch so I guess I'll just keep it. :sneaky:
