I went the free route and it worked out quite well.. While its not as good as the Apex kit, it was still a vast improvement.
I did not do the Burwell job though, I polished the crap out of all contact points and slightly modified the trigger bar so that I would get a better, more positive reset.

If your M&P has the thumb safety go with the Apex FSS Kit and you will love it. Assuming you are going to carry the piece and if it does not have a thumb safety I would not recommend the FSS but the standard duty kit. Either way you will be pleased.

There is a video series on youtube also showing the entire process.
If you are comfortable tearing your M&P down try the free route first. A little time and you can get all that gritty feeling out as well as lower pull weight. I have done it to several I own and I think it greatly improves the trigger and saves you some cash. Plus you did it yourself.

worst thing that could happen is ya fuck it up and relace the parts with an apex kit. Its simple though if your handy.
