Triggers - Which have the best reputations for reliability?

Need to choose a trigger for new build. I am looking at;

Huber
Bix’n Andy
CG Xtreme
Triggertech
Timney

...all in 2 stage.

Which ones are getting the best feedback on reliability (consistency, resistance to dust ingress, etc.).

I vote Huber. I think APA almost destroyed one of their builds in a video and if i remember correctly it had a Huber...

I run a Huber 2-stage 1.5 lb!!! I’m buying 2 others to complete my current builds.

I have seen to many Jewells fail. But, I am not saying all are bad. I have just seen to many issues.

I would like to try a Huber, but a very reputable smith told me he wouldn't install a Huber on anything he assembled.. Not sure exactly of what all the details were but he was very adamant about it. So I've kinda been hesitant...

It had something to do with the design and the safety aspect of the trigger I think, don't quote me on that one.. He is a very reputable smith and does great work, I won't name any names but I'm sure he has his reasons as to why...

I guess the opinions are split then. LRI didn't object to installing a Huber on mine and SAC just posted on Facebook about triggers saying Hubers are good to go. Wonder who the builder is.

I looked at the rifles at the Geissele display at the SHOT Show. The triggers felt good but when I asked the guy if he had just a trigger I could look at, he acted like I called his Mama ugly and said they didn't have one. I found it odd for them to not have a trigger for display.

I know - ive talked to thia smith myself. He gave me no reasons, just said he wouldnt install one. I went with another, and have no complaints. The smith does great work, but i love my two Hubers and wouldnt use any other trigger.
Check the videos for the torture test on Huber triggers. Impressive!!

Run the Jewel in dirty conditions and sooner or later it's going to let you down. I was provided with this exact same info when I did my first build with a Jewel but they are so sweet I had to learn the hard way; twice...

I go with Huber for my triggers also have a good family friend who owns a high end rifle manufacture uses them and recommended them to me and I haven't looked back.

Any reason the Tubb T7T wasn't mentioned? Mine has been flawless so far and I've shot in some insane wind with lots of sand and super fine dust. It's also user adjustable, and easy to set up. Installation requires some stock modifications, that's the only drawback.

I only have experience with the Jewel triggers. And I cant even conceive the notion of a better trigger (As far as break pull). I dont have experience with running my guns in a sand storm so I have nothing to compare to. But can someone list in detail how the other triggers mentioned are better than jewel?

I honestly want to know cause Id love to have them.

I have 3 Jewels, 2 on bolt guns and 1 2-stage on an AR match rifle. The Jewels are fantastic and I have never had 1 fail but I have heard of cases where they were sensitive to grit. I also have 1 Trigger Tech Special that has an amazing break and has been reliable with both water and some grit in it.

I have two Timney Calvin Elite single stage triggers and love them. Both set at 10 oz. and perfect reliability with crisp break.

My custom .308 and .338 have Timney CEs on them and I have never had an issue. That said, I just want to make sure there isn’t something better out there (it seems like there always is). Haha!

I think the OP was asking about two-stage triggers, which disqualifies the Jewell.

I have a pair of Jewel HVR triggers, both set at 10ozs. I have never in 4 years of PRS had a lick of trouble. And I live and shoot in a very dirty, dusty environment.All I do is blast a little cleaner through them from the top every now and then. I certainly don't think it's too much to ask that a trigger gets a little cleaning every now and then.

At two day matches where it's windy and dirty (which is pretty much all of them) I blast a little cleaner through on Saturday night, along with wiping down my bolt and action.

It makes you wonder how many triggers wouldn't fail if maintained properly.

He's a jackass that probably has his panties in a wad over whether or not it's a true two stage. If you release the trigger without firing, the first stage doesn't reset to 0%... it's close but the first stage will have slightly less weight required to move through the first stage on subsequent pulls.

If you flip the safety on, which you should anyway if you aren't going to be firing the rifle, it resets to zero.

It's symantecs and it's irrelevant.

Ive used a couple TriggerTechs in the desert with wind, and mud with rain and they never hive me problems. BUT i have no experience with the Huber so take that for what its worth. I have heard about Jewells not functioning when it gets really dusty with the fine fine grit stuff. But again thats not firsthand experience

I bought one for a defiance action. Between myself, my gunsmith and David Tubb, we never could get the trigger to work for my rifle. Ended up selling it as it was unusable for me.

I have friends who swear by them. I also have gunsmith friends who swear about them.

Decent triggers, but not a 2 stage trigger as requested by the OP.

I just tried it and it didn't happen. That's not to say it's not possible, it just doesn't happen in mine.

GAP Templar/Defiance Rebel in a McM A5. Friend who loves his T7T has his in Defiance Deviants, his gunsmith absolutely HATES that trigger and the work that needs to be put in to fit.

In fact, every gunsmith I've talked to about the T7T trigger hates it.

In David Tubb's video of the T7T, he claims that filing down the back corner of the trigger with ~11 passes of a file (going off of memory here), will allow the trigger to fit in Defiance actions. Definitely not the case - better get the Dremel out or you will be filing for hours. You have to take a lot of metal off the bitch to work - if you can get it to work that is, I never could.

Or I can just buy triggers that work that are true drop ins and require zero dicking around to work.

I've moved on to Bix 'n Andy Tacsport 2 stage triggers - just as adjustable as the T7T trigger (minus the lateral position of the shoe), a true drop in trigger, and I think they feel amazing. Last but certainly not least, they are almost half the price of a T7T trigger.

I'll stick with Bix 'n Andy, thank you very much.

CG22, a version of the trigger is used in the MK13 (I think it is the MK13 at least).

Probably a good testament to its reliability.

He's not some dumb ass who woke up one day and decided that he had a vendetta against Huber triggers, he has seen something from an engineering aspect that he doesnt feel comfortable with and doesnt wanna pass that on to the customer, not to mention the liability aspect of it. That's what has made me hesitant.. Just wanted to back up what 918v is saying... I have had great experiences with the Timney CE and really have had no reasons to change.. I still have an itch to try the new Diamond single stage and maybe a Bix n Andy two stage.. Maybe on the new build coming up..

That right there is some funny shit. The fact that you have had good experiences with other triggers is not evidence that there is something wrong with Hubers. The fact that some super smith engineer or what ever, that you can not name, will not use them is not evidence that their is anything wrong with them. Use your money to buy whatever makes you happy, I have no problem with that. But buy your own account you have never owned a Huber. You don't claim to have ever shot one, yet you want to support a guy who claims his malfunctions. What if that guy fucked his up when he put it in? What if he tried adjust it (the Huber is not user adjustable)and screwed it up? Do you still want to support a guy badmouthing a product you have never personally used?
