I know the AR10 has a heavier spring and hammer than the AR15 models. Has anyone ever ran the AR15 model in an AR10 caliber?

i have one in a blackrain 6.5 creedmoor... they didnt have the AR10 out at the time i put it in...

I believe the hammer spring weight is the same across the board with small frame and large frame AR’s
I thought so too. However, there’s definitely two models. I use 450 primers in Grendels and creedmoor loads... wtf Chuck. I’d think either would be fine. Maybe the .03 ounces more the firing pin weighs needs a heavier spring and hammer? That makes sense.

I blasted about a grand of M118lr with an AR15 Diamond, I eventually swapped in an AR10, but I personally had no issues with the 15 running those rounds.
I know the 450’s are a magnum primer, and I think they might be a slightly thicker cup to take the extra pressure but maybe the tiny bit extra weight of the pin mixed with the thicker cups causes the issue but I’ll definitely keep an eye on my stuff since it’s got a AR trigger in it.I thought so too. id say around 5-600... which i know of a couple more running them also.. one started getting some double taps.. when he call trigger tech they replaced it & the replacement was the AR10 model..
I just emailed TriggerTech yesterday about the Brownells special edition Green Adaptable trigger I bought recently and their response was:
"The AR15 Brownells Adaptable Trigger will work great in your Aero Precision M5 if you are using quality ammo. However, if you are using surplus ammo or really hard primers, I would then recommend our AR10 trigger instead."
I suspect this applies to all of the AR15 triggers. Since my build is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, I won't be using any surplus ammo and plan to install it this weekend. For what it's worth, I love the TT Competitive 3.5 lb trigger in my 5.56 SPR, and can't wait to see how this Adaptable feels at 2-3 lbs.
Edit: I just installed the Adaptable into my Aero M5 lower. Holy crap, this thing is much nicer than I expected for the price. I adjusted it as low as it would go (2lbs) and it felt a little too light for my liking, so I bumped it up near ~3 lbs where it feels perfect. I didn't feel like the MBT-2S I had in the gun was holding me back at all, but now that I've tried the Adaptable, I stand corrected. The TT is worth every damn penny.

I have an AR15 TT Diamond in my 6.5 AR10 build, set to break at 1lb 5.4oz, 700+ rounds factory ammo through it, 3 light primer strikes. reliable enough for me.
I've compared new AR10 and AR15 Diamond's on the bench, only difference's I was able to identify was the weight and shape of the hammer and the external markings from TT. All of the other parts appear to be the same. There may be something else but I could't find anything. I have the AR10 Diamond flat in the MR762A1 and the AR15 Diamond in the LMT 308 MWS, both operate perfectly.
In my opinion the AR10 Diamond may be better if using "less than good" ammo, but I've not experienced any mis-fires/light strikes in the LMT so it is purely speculation based on the extra weight the AR10 hammer has.

So do you think the ar10 trigger could be used in an ar15? I have a MWS with a SSA-E, but I'm thinking about picking up a diamond. I might opt for the ar10 version and if I don't like it in the MWS, I'd like to drop it into an AR15.
Good question. Would it fit? Sure The hammer is significantly heavier in the TT AR10 triggers. It's up to you. The Diamond AR15 trigger works fine in my MWS, no problem with it and still no light strikes to date.

If you do this, I recommend that you closely check the first rounds fired spent brass to see if the primers might be punched too deep. No sense of creating a preventable problem.

It exhibited no more light strikes with the TT AR10 trigger, but the owner didn't want that more expensive setup, so I put a stronger hammer spring on the RRA trigger and everything worked as it should.

I emailed TT about using an AR15 Trigger in my Aero M5 and got the following reply. Based on this, I would expect fitment to be identical, but the AR10 to strike harder.
An update from my earlier post above, now have 1160 rounds through my AR10, 6.5 w /TT AR15 Diamond, no issues other than initial 3 light strikes that were within first 100 rounds, (I don't remember what brand ammo?), Have installed another one since then, zero issues so far, great trigger!
Thanks! I think I'm going to give it a try, I don't think a more forceful strike will hurt anything, it's still using the same firing pin and I do like to know that I could use it for any platform with any ammo.
Accidentally bought the AR15 diamond instead of the AR10 a year ago for my match rifle. Have shot a few thousand rounds with CCI 34 primers without any light strikes.
I've built and sold a fair number of big block AR's using the TT Competition, Adaptable, and Black Diamond triggers. Not one single issue to date.
This tread has been open more than two years! In that time I've installed well over 100 TriggerTech triggers in AR and other pattern rifles. No issues or complaints. For example one customer had trigger issues with his DDM4 and brought it to me for help. With a TT Diamond, no issues and superior performance. Since then he has had me convert all of his various AR's and 700 based rifles to TriggerTech Diamond. Once a shooter is used to the clean crisp function that a TT provides it is not easy to accept anything less.
I have several customers who do competitions - tactical, 3 gun, etc. One shooter uses a SBR/supressed with a Diamond set to 2 lbs. Has dropped it many times during events yet not one unwanted round fired. I keep several competitors drop in triggers on hand - BTW they are all removals to install TT products. Reason I breathed life into the thread again. I am jazzed AF with my TT Diamond single in my 7-08M5. Awesome being able to adjust trigger pull on a solid click system! Even got idiot arrows right next to the screw!
More interested I am is the use of the AR15 version in an AR10 rig. Are you running the AR15 in the AR10s or installing same for same?
The choice is up to you. For the AR10 both Triggers have shown to work very well. If you are ultra cautious then go with the AR10 for the AR10.

After only a few rounds, I had an unintentional double tap! Not good! This rifle is built up for PRS and that would not fly. I did adjust the trigger to be roughly 1.5 lbs (5 turns up from completely loose), which is what the instructions recommend so that the little screw doesn’t come loose.
Loved the feel of the trigger, but when it happened again (yes, a second unintentional double tap), I had to make the trigger heavier. I don’t have a trigger scale, but I’m guessing it’s around 2.5-3 lbs now. Still great, but I’m nervous to keep it at the 1.5 lbs and possibly have a double tap or other dangerous issues.
Anyway, that’s my experience so far… anyone else running it in their big frame AR’s experiencing this?

If you're getting double taps, it's likely an issue with follow through on your trigger press. I've experienced it with the Triggertech in an AR15. I've increased the pull weight a bit and have concentrated on my technique to eliminate the issue. FWIW, I've also experienced a double tap with a Geissele HSNM trigger as well if I get lazy and jump off the trigger too soon.
Ahh I def do think I need to work on the follow up. Like keeping my trigger finger pressed back a split second longer. It was the first time I’ve had such a nice and light trigger. Hopefully that’s all it was.
JT - Sounds like you need to adjust your technic and it should be fine. Maybe dial up to 2.5 or so and get use to that then go lighter from there. Personally I've found that 2.0~1.9 is what works for me. I've got the TT Diamond in all of my piston guns (PWS, LWRC, H&K) now, no issues at all.
You’re not trying to shoot singles with a machine gun in PRS. Keep your finger on the trigger until the recoil is over. Then reset the trigger.
Bolt gun guys can have super light triggers and trigger control that only Michael J Fox could appreciate and still shoot well. You don’t have that luxury with a gas gun.

Yep sounds like you’re just slapping the trigger with bad follow through. Shooting a gas gun isn’t like shooting a bolt gun, you’re not going to get away with stuff like that especially with a trigger like the TT that’s truly zero creep. Turn it way down and you’re only making it worse.
Hold pressure with a good grip until the rifle is done recoiling and you’re completely back on target. Then reset it. You can work on it from there if you want to come off sooner but until those actions happen you’re not ready to send the next round anyway so you’re gaining nothing by resetting the trigger sooner.

It's a known issue with the Diamond if set too light. If too light it could double tap or fail to reset or go full auto. I experienced double tap AND/OR full auto in my AR10 .308. I've also experienced all 3 in my 6 ARC AR too. You can find these issues mentioned in TT's FAQ. My longest string of full auto was approx 9 rds (mag loaded to 10). Luckily my AR10 is heavy and running a nice PVA brake that all bullets impacted the berm at 100yd.
My 6 ARC AR had no issues until after the 180th round. Adjusted trigger to 34-36 oz from 24-26 oz to fix it. I plan on dumping this trigger soon. Don't want to DQ myself from a match.
Got rid of the one in my AR10 and replaced with with a Geissele.
That scope is probably heavier than that entire rifle lol
Sick build. My god. V Seven receivers and handguard, JP BCG, Proof Barrel, TT Diamond, Kahles scope, Sphur mount....u have great taste, expect that silly grip lol this build needs the MKM Recce grip =)
Is this a known issue with the trigger, or users just having bad followthrough? I'm looking at getting a light trigger for my precision AR, and the list of triggers with long resets is empty. Everyone wants a 3 gun machine gun with insane resets, which I get, but I kind of wish there were some better reset options for precision guns set to light weight.
As is, I'm likely going to get the diamond regardless. I'm not afraid of working a good follow through technique, like I should be doing anyways.
This is what TT sent me when I started going full auto. See where I underlined in red. I just want to clarify that this issue started happening around the 180-190th round mark. Sometimes it would not recock. Most of the time it would double or triple tap. Approximately 3-4 times it went full auto until mag emptied. Luckily my 6 ARC mags are 10rd capacity only. I have NOT had recock or autofire issues once I increased the weight of my Diamond to around 36 oz. A bit too heavy for me, for PRS use.
I have not had an issue with my diamond yet but do not have it on the lightest setting either. I also have the AR10 version.
Unintentionally bump firing a AR10 due to a light trigger is why some companies like Knights spec a 4.5 pound trigger. That bolt carrier is a whole lot of mass coming back forward. Personally Geissele DMR is as light as I go on two stage.
