Rifle Scopes Trijicon 1-8?

IMHO the Trij is a decent $1,150.00 optic, nothing more, nothing less. I have one because I wanted to try a 1-8x, they were available, and had received pretty decent reviews. I've not been disappointed, its been pretty much what I expected... I didn't expect it to be up to the measure of my Nightforce. One thing I wish Trij had done a better job with is the illumination, which absolutely, positively does not match up with my definition of daylight-bright (that despite the many claims to the contrary). Again. not disappointing, as that's what I expected after seeing said opinion on M4C from reviewer(s) I trust. If, though, I’d have purchased it expecting true daylight-bright performance I would have been sorely disappointed.

All that being said I'll definitely be giving the NX8 a look. If the illum is truly as bright as initial reviews claim (I've learned, the hard way, that "daylight bright" is highly subjective and very-much in the eye of the beholder) you'll probably be seeing my Trij in the PX.

It's not daylight bright so it gets piled into the category of the other lpv that can't take advantage of 1x speed.

I would dump it asap as it's value is only going to decline and the NX8 is the new lpv to own IMO. Trijicon fucked up biggly by not making it daylight bring. It would be a great optic if it was.

Are these good scopes? I have a NIB one and now see that NF has the NX8. How does the Trijicon compare? Thanks.

I think that remains to be seen. I have seen the NX8 and ATACR 1-8x and the S&B 1-8x. Each of these three, and IMHO, the Steiner M6Xi will out perform the Accupower 1-8x, but the Trijicon is a very good scope.

I have a 1-8 Mil in Green. I like the optic and the glass is ok, not VCOG nice, but it is a lot cheaper. My only complaint is the crosshair is thick. It covers quite a bit of the target when shooting steel. I do love the no-tool turrets. Makes it easy to make changes in ammo differences.

Thanks for the info. I really just bought this scope so I could see my clip on menu so the daylight bright should be too big a deal.
Ruggedness and repeatability are my biggest concerns.
The reticle is a little on the thick side especially the center cross but when shooting distance, the lower part of the reticle should be fine.

I shoot the red mil scope, and I from my experience, repeatability and ruggedness are about average. I have had good luck on repeatability. Some minor tracking issues from time to time. Pretty good. On reliability, it is pretty tough, but not ACOG or NF tough. The turrets have gotten hit from time to time and they are holding up.

I have both optics, a Vortex 1-6 and a Trijicon 1-8. As far as durability, I would say they are both hardy-tough optics. The more important question is will the companies back their scope with warranty work if you ever need it? I can say yes to that question too as both are awesome companies to work with. And, I have used both for warranty work and had no issues on how they handled the problems, not on these particular optics, but on a ACOG, and a Razor. If we are talking glass I would definitely give that to the Razor but it is also nice to have the 1-8 when you need it.
