Anyone running an Triji Accupoint 3-9x on an AR ?

Was able to handle one this past wkend and might try one on larger cal. AR. Had great eye relief and quick on trgt, to me.

Open to other recommendations - prefer var. power, thus no ACOG.

Re: Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x vs ???

Thanks Scott -- and yes, it was the Triangle/post model, just would like some type of mil dot or ranging marks.....rather than a post. But, it was nice.

Any other thoughts? Brands? models...

Re: Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x vs ???

Trijicon just released the mil-dot 3-9X40 about three months ago. I think it is hard to beat this scope for a hunting rifle. I shot a bunch of hogs with mine on my 6.8, but in the end of the day I am going to sell it to get something with target knobs and normal MOA/Mil adjustments (not inch like the accupoint)... If you are looking for a comparison, I would compare it to a Bushnell 4200 and Nikon Monarch on the lower end and a Zeiss conquest at the upper end. At the end of the day, if all I was doing was shooting hogs with my rifle it would be my go to scope.

Re: Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x vs ???

I was told it was unavailable/coming out soon when I called Trijicon to order mine in January (I went direct because mil discount). I saw it on their website in May and assumed it finally came out... I ended up ordering the crosshair with green dot, but would really like the mildot for holdovers--part of the reason I'm going to sell it and buy the Nightforce 2.5-10X32.

Re: Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x vs ???

Would you guys go with the Triji 3-9x40 or the 2.5-10x56 for an AR? Would be used for range shooting and low light hunting. I like the larger magnification range and field of view on the 2.5-10, but that scope is huge and seems a bit out of place on an AR. Is the 2.5-10 really that much better in low light then the 3-9?

Re: Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x vs ???

For an AR platform I would go with the 3-9, the 56mm objective on the 2.5-10 is just too big for an AR (unless it's a dedicated varminter then go 5-20). I've looked through both optics at night, and the 2.5-10 is incredible. I even looked through the 2.5-10 at night next a pair of nice Swaro binos, the 2.5-10 was better. The 3-9 is no slouch though, I think it is probably the best scope on the market for a dedicated pig hunting AR.

Re: Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x vs ???

I have been running a 3-9 Accupoint with a green dot / mildot reticle on my Wilson Combat 6.8 since December..
I love the setup.

The 2.5-10x56 is a tad brighter but it's also a lot bigger/heavier
I also owned have Zeiss, Kahles and Swarovski

I have done a back to back comparison at dusk into darkness on a dark night with the 3-9 Accupoint compared to my Kahles 3-10x50 with a German #4

Either would let you shoot well past legal hunting time and past that, for hogs at night, I use a red/green LED light setup

I know that Bill Wilson is a big fan of the 3-9 greendot and he's had just about every highend scope out there

The 3-9 Accupoint works great!

Re: Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x vs ???

i havent owend one but i have used a freinds leaver gun that had a accupoint 1-4x24 30mm riflescope with the green triangle reticle for a deer drive once it was a great scope i think you would be hard pressed to find something better for fast action hunting especialy with a ar type rifle!

That is one of the original Kotonics 6.8's 16" bare barrel, midlength gas system, medium contour. Really fine shooting accurate rifles.

That one is my friend's one. I sold my Kotonics upper for an ARPerformance light weight setup, and I use a 1x-4x scope

Re: Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x vs ???

Roger that y'all - just got the TR20G 3-9x Green Triangle/post. Very happy with it on an ADM Recon QD. SImilar to ANDO's setup.

I have worked with Scott at Liberty Optics on several occasions, and this was another excellent transaction.

Thanks for the input.
