I just went down to the gun shop and looked through the glass of this Trijicon and was impressed. I compared it to my Nightforce and a Mark 4 they had there, and it seemed to be sharper and brighter. Does anybody ever owned this scope or know how well it will dial. I dial for all my shooting and it will get used. I know it's not a Nightforce or US but for 700 bucks new its pretty hard to pass up. Please any info would be great. Thanks Tom

Re: Trijicon Accupoint 5-20x50 mildot

I owned one and used it extensively., summary:
Tracking was dead on for dope out to 600 yards
Build quality seemed good
Glass was plenty bright and sharp, clear to the edges with some softness around the very edge
I had the mil dot reticle and hated the size of the reticle, it was quite thick at all points
I liked that the center dot did not bloom or bleed out, the dot stayed quite well defined
Head position was very forgiving on the bottom, not at all forgiving on the top

I liked the scope more on the bottom end than at the top end. In the end, I sold it simply due to the reticle thickness.

(Mine was mounted on an AR10 used almost exclusively for hog hunting. For that, it was a great scope. For precise work, I wouldn't recommend it.)

Have one on a 300 RUM got it in a trade NIB. Mounted it on 20 moa base with Badger rings . I like it.Tracks fine.Great glass. Mil dot with green dot. Like the no battery fiber/trin. Some complain about lack of elevation adjustment. Not a problem for a flat shooter and a 20moa base.$700 is a good price .I would grab it.

The biggest issue I have heard is reticle thickness. I agree the glass on the accupoints are outstanding for the price. Aquaintence of mine has it on an AR as well ... I have never heard any reference to tracking problems or mechanical issues. $700 has been ballpark for used (from what I've seen), I would grab it if it fits the requirements you need. I've been considering picking up one as well but have not seen any that low priced.

Good luck

If the scope is $700 new, and is a 5-20 Trijicon Accupoint, I'd buy it immediately, even if only to sell it to someone else for $900.

For $1,100, it weren't my favorite, for $700, I'd buy another.

Exactly. I missed a deal in the classifieds here that had one for 7 and change... Great deal as far as I'm concerned, and that was used. As mentioned above, I would wonder how that price is possible without some employee discount or....

You never know, I spoke with someone today that apparently gets to purchase 1 Burris product a year at around 70% off msrp, and is buying an XTR (3-12?) for neighborhood about $350. Gets the same type of discount with Ruger but at around 40% I believe.

If its legit you should certainly grab it.

Re: Trijicon Accupoint 5-20x50 mildot

For what it is I would look at another scope in the price range the internal travel is really limited compared to other scopes in this price range. If you are using a .308 and want to dial the scope advertises +/- 5.9 Mils of total travel assuming you get 2/3s of that after you zero it that leaves you 3.5 mils to dial up obviously that is a little rough guestimation but with that elevation availble you would bottom out your turret before you could hit 500 yards with a 175gr smk. I believe the vortex pst has around 19mils of travel for around 900 and the SWFA SS 5-20 has 30 mils of travel for around 1200.

As you said you want to dial everything so I would recomend staying away from this scope as you likely wont be able to dial in much past 500.

Re: Trijicon Accupoint 5-20x50 mildot

My 5-20x50 mildot Accupoint has been great. It's truly had the snot beat out of it, been dropped (hard) multiple times, constantly switched back and forth between three different rifles (AR-10 and two 308 bolts), used different sets of rings, re-zero every time, rain, heat cold, dust....etc. Definitely haven't gone easy on it.

It still preforms perfectly. Clicks are still very solid and accurate.

For it's price the glass is very clear with plenty of brightness --- Not quite on par w/Nightforce but MUCH better than some Leupold M4's I've owned/used.

Always felt it's very much overlooked. Yeah, not much elevation but I don't get to shoot out past 500 much anyway and you kinda get used to the thicker reticle. Definitely easier to range targets.

The ONLY problem I have now after a few years is the amber dot is very dim and almost not even there anymore. Hopefully it can be sent back for new tritium.

That Accupoint got crossed off my list quickly when I saw the limited elevation. I have a 3-9 Accupoint that is great on my 6.8 ar. But I went with a scope that had more adjustment when it came to my long range gun

How long did the tritium last before it started to get dim? My buddy recently picked up a 3x9 Accupoint for his 6.8 and I'm pretty sure that will be my next scope.

Which is why I have a 20 MOA mount on the way for mine.

For the price I don't think you can get higher resolution optics, and tough, too.
